Fapping against my will

Hi,

This is something I used to struggle with a lot, until something my therapist said changed my perspective.

Basically, the idea is that if you try fighting addiction straight with your will, you will always lose. Because the addiction is stronger than you. It is set out to destroy your will and destroy who you are. Whatever you do, you are fighting a losing battle.

This is especially true when the object of the addiction is instantly available with a couple of clicks.

So the solution is to take the will out of the situation. Figure out in which situations you PMO, how you access Internet porn and then find out ways of making sure you can't access it, even if you want to. For example, I always used to PMO on my computer, so I asked my girlfriend to put a password on my computer so that I couldn't access it unless I really needed to work.

I realise that not everyone is in this situation, but unless you only work from home on your computer, I think you can find a solution.

Once you get past the cold turkey phase, and once you have managed to establish some healthy habits and figured out how to deal with urges, you will find that "fapping against your will" will because less and less an issue.

Same. I was hooked on m to the point were i was doing it at least 5- 6 times a day. And it drained me, i mean really drained me. No energy, no will to improve my life, just laying in my bed like a sloth. All i can say is if u you really want to be pmo free. It will happen eventually if u keep trying. Relapses will happen, theres no arguing that. Failure makes you wiser without you knowing it. So just dont give up. For me its this forum that helps alot. Posting my progress on here is helping alot.

 

True, pure will isn't enough in this fight. I feel like failure is nessesary.

 

I don't know how to answer it, it's a vicious cycle, and maybe subconsciously you know that you are gonna relapse either way, so you are not going all the way.
Try making targets of small streaks like 3 days, 6 days. Set a target of 5 streaks each 6 day long before the end of let us say this year. Something simple that doesn't overwhelm and builds confidence.
