Fasting effects on libido and retention

I saw somewhere that fasting can help if you're dealing with really difficult urges and transmute the energy elswhere. Anyone experienced this?

food and water are the basic urges . control them and you tame your mind to control other urges

You know, food and water are the "basic" urges that makes you live, unless you want to die.
Anorexic girls who don't eat loses their monthly cycle as well, but I won't try that way and risk to damage a body just to loose some "sexual urges".

You seem to be having an extreme perspective. Control does not mean to stop eating . Control is to eat right food, to eat the right amount and not to over indulge . There is a concept of intermittent fasting which is scientifically proven . If one cares one can do research . And once in the path you can understand your own urges for food and water . It’s no rocket science and should not be feared … just research

I have a bit of experience with (intermittent) fasting. Don't think I would recommend it as an "emergency fix" for urges, more like training in delayed gratification.
I imagine it might be different for everyone, but generally I find a connexion between being well fed and comfortable, and seeking "lazy" pleasure.
Fasting gets that energy out of my system and forces the mind to take over and focus.
But there can be the effect of getting hungry and irritable, which can be a trigger, depending on your psychology and mood.
It's being more fragile for a little while, to come back stronger. So to be ready to fast, you should first be nice and stable physically.
I read that testosterone drops during the fast, but then you get a boost when breaking the fast.
Experiment with shorter periods first and see what works for you, it's the most I can say.

I do intermittent fasting regularly. The several times i did 72hr fast, strictly water only, my urges were completely gone. I think this happens because fasting is very stressful on the body. A cascade of biological reactions happen to endure this stress.
The body is uninterested in expanding energy with sex and ejaculation, it’s a costly activity. Fasting puts you in a survival mode, reproduction isn’t as important as finding your next meal. Intermittent fasting for me is 16-18hrs, which as long as you eat enough won’t affect your urges.
Peace of my mind comes with knowing that urges ebb and flow - they’ll pass if you can endure

Short-term fasting, particularly intermittent fasting, may support or even slightly increase testosterone levels, especially when combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise. However, prolonged fasting or severe caloric restriction can lead to a decrease in testosterone as the body adjusts to conserve energy. The effects of fasting on testosterone are influenced by the duration of fasting, caloric intake, body composition, and individual health.

I don’t do intermittent fasting on a regular basis as of lately, however whenever I did it I noticed a decrease in urges and at the same time felt that my mind was sharper.

48 hour straight water fast hadn't saw any urges and libido after 24 hours yeah that's worth it but all the urges came back when I ate .so better to eat less.

Thx doctor sir .

I went on a water fast for 17 days in 2017 under medical supervision. I had no food during that time and only drank water. I can attest that sexual desire vanishes completely after 2 or 3 days of fasting. I experienced virtually no urges and did not look at porn once during that time. There simply is no energy to spend on reproduction or sexuality during a fast. Of course, the desires come right back once the fast is over/ broken. I hope this helps.
