    Hi Guys & Gals,

I'm posting as I could do with a little help or advice please. I have been on the site for about 2 months & in that time I have managed a couple of good runs - a 1 week & a 2 week non-PMO stretch.

The past few weeks (since my two week non-PMO) I have really been struggling to restart & make any progress. It seems really difficult right now. I work for myself & work has been slow the past couple weeks, which not only makes me worry but also gives me more time on my hands - two of the worst factors!

I haven't contributed to the site for a couple weeks as I felt I had nothing to offer as I was really struggling to put a run of even a couple days together. For some reason I just give into temptation too easy at the moment - although afterwards I still feel down & disappointed with myself!

Does anyone have any advice on how to get re-started when you're in such a slump please? I know it can be done as I have had some success when I first joined the site but just can't seem to get there at the moment.

    Thanks everyone.

In all honesty, you've made it further than me. I resolved just yesterday to quite cold turkey: I'm in about 27 hours so far, and it's right in that tough spot.

I feel your pain in a number of ways. I too work from home and am frequently alone in the house, so there's plenty of opportunity. I've also faced periods that are just terrible after going PMO-free in three and four day chunks...consistently! Nothing is quite so demoralizing as having good stretches and then falling off that wagon.

The best thing I can say is don't get too defeatist. Know that you're capable of great achievements, no matter what your current status is. You've done two weeks before, so you know deep down you have the means to achieve it again. Don't get so hung up on the relapses that you fail to value your successes.

I'm not trying to be flippant when I say "well, you've done it once, so..." I've used that before in my own efforts, and it can work.

I hope you find it in yourself!

    Cheers,
    yuzax

    Hi Yuzax,

Thanks for your reply, your points are very good. It is good to see someone in a similar situation (working from home) which offers it's own issues. I have even considered starting a new job away from the house to help combat the PMO issue - but after working so hard to set a business up I can't let my problem destroy parts of my life !

I understand what you're saying about having done two weeks before - I think this to myself. I just need to try & re-find what my mind state was when I did it! I believe that's what made me successful before & is the key to doing it again. I think in one of my previous posts when I was on the two week run, I remember mentioning it was like a switch had been switched in my head & I just wasn't interested in PMO, I was more determined. The only thing I can think is that work is quieter now so I am less busy & therefore less focused. If I am to get rid of PMO altogether I need to learn how to do it in the quiet times too & in particular the stressful times.

You've had some good runs mate, keep it going!

    Cheers

You have come up with a plan. Journal your progress everyday here or in a new notebook. Make a plan every morning before you go out for the day. Follow the goals for that day that you will want to fulfill. Don't use comp for too long in your free time. Know what you will be doing whenever you use comp and don't go onto any sites that are triggers. Download K9 web blocker and give password to someone else, so you can't access it. Meditate every morning for 20 minutes and workout every day or every other day if you time. Go out for a walk in your free time instead of using the computer.

That's what I do and these have helped me immensely although following these things won't guarantee a relapse free journey but if you get good at these, recovery is possible. Good luck.

    Hi Awakening,

Thanks for your reply - I definitely agree. Funnily enough I have a busier day today & do have a plan of action - emails, walk dog, work meeting, gym etc & I am not even considering PMO at all. It's just not an option today & my brain knows this & I therefore don't have any temptation. Totally the reverse of yesterday.

Just need to apply it to the less busy or more stressful days. Writing down my daily goals (not just work to do lists) is a great idea thanks!

Do the 90 days and re-assess.
