Fight, flight, freeze, breed and feed

  1. One therapist also has fawn in there in the context of codependency. While breed and feed may be opposite on one level, what does all of this have in common? Maybe just the basic fact that they are all instinctual?

If the F's were to be engaged in intelligently, it may start to look less like an emotional reaction. The word feign comes to mind, which can be different things in terms of fight or flight for example. Even with freeze you might play dead in some situations in order to survive.

Here's a twist: There can be a mental equivalent to breed and feed. Feeding your mind is fairly obvious, but 'breeding' could be even more interesting as far as generating new ideas.
