    Dear fellow fapstronauts,

for some time already a feeling inside me is growing: that I should find a every-day connection to GOD (as I understand him) be able to talk to him (you might prefer the term 'to pray') and thus be grateful and conscious of being surrounded by him.
However....for some reason I am afraid to start talking to this 'stranger'...

Due to past experiences I am not too fond of religion in general and Christianity in particular. Seems like something inside me refuses me to reconnect to a higher being, although another part inside of me keeps telling me how important it would be to consciously reconnect to him and get to know him as a personalized higher being.

I honestly believe it is a crucial step towards recovery.
To all spiritual and religious fapstronauts: what are your habits? do you pray? how? meditate? what you believe in?

Hi lionace... First off, let me congratulate you on a really nice streak... Past a month and beyond, kudos!

I am a Christian and your post is very interesting to me. I do not beat people over the head with a Bible. Instead, I'd rather let my life do the talking. Everyone is my brother, even those who might hate me.

The concept of a higher being is a debate for the ages... Who is this "presence" and why does it matter. I relate it to my core. Those things that I hold true in my heart and espouse to... Honesty, forgiveness, peace, self control, hope and the greatest.. Love.

I pray my means of meditating. I've been warned by other Christians this is dangerous... But I find it freeing and pure. My habits are very simple. Take care of me emotionally and physically. I exercise regularly and take time to offer thanks and gratitude to this "God."

I do agree there is a spiritual aspect... And I also believe that God is to big to be carried around in a box or called upon to be a cosmic Santa Claus.

I wish you the very best in you journey to free from the fap and encourage you to seek God as you find him.

    Thanks, Handzfree, for posting this
I'd call myself spiritual, and it's about time to find a harmonic synthesis involving my Christian past.
I am already prepared because I find more and more Christians I am able to resonate with after having reconciled the previous anger and refusal of dogmas. I even begin to find truths in the bible as soon as I start to distinguish between someones' interpretation and my understanding. There can be multiple truths, one for everybody.

I believe that humans are not fully complete unless they find each other in a collective serving a spiritual purpose.
    I believe that's what I aim for.

I would label myself a non-traditionalist Christian. I do see historical evidence to support my belief and I have a lot of close Christian friends who would help me at the drop of a hat.

I also see a lot of hate and destruction based on what people believe their "God" wants. Just like the asshole whole shot up the abortion clinic. Real nice statement there.. and I'm sure he convince a lot of people he was right (sarcasm). Then there's Westborough Baptist Church that wants to picket funerals. God hates gays.. Where in the world would a loving God endorse such hatred. These people are sick... Remember some of the characters in the Bible... rapists, murders, prostitutes, liars, sex addicts - pretty much losers yet they were used for a greater purpose. I completely admire Mother Theresa who gave up her life for orphans. People like Tolkein, Bach, Wilberforce, CS Lewis, Eric Liddell, ML King, Tutu, and even Bono. These people had (have) "balls" and knew (know) who their God was (is).

We live in a world that is hell-bent on killing because someone has a different religious belief. It's no wonder why people are completely turned off. Why should I even consider Christianity or Islam if all they want to do it kill others and impose their will on me?

So IMHO, it's not what you call yourself.. it's what your core is. And in your core is your belief in something bigger than yourself. Some people may not agree and see themselves as "God", which I understand too. For me, there is too much coincidence to deny something greater than me. (my own personal feelings).

That being said, I have an obligation to stay pure and true to myself. Fapping and pornography should have no place in my life. I owe it to myself to be the very best person I can be and I believe this comes from respecting myself and seeing how I can fit into and love others that I know and come to know.

I wish you the best, and hope you find your space and understanding of your spirituality.

    HF.

  5. please be open minded and try this little 7 minute exersize out, its not hypnosis, its not really meditation, it just reminds you of your true self, connects you with God, plus your self. Its to hard to explain, and I just see by what you wrote that you would really like this exersize. let me know how you like it!

Yukon, thanks! Just tried it. Very simple yet a good idea. I can try that even without the guiding voice...
I'm a bit sceptical that it will help me with urges since when I tried it now I wasn't in temptation. But I will definitely try it next time when I get into a unfortunate situation.

    My thoughts.
I would be very careful about getting involved with any organised religion. Partly because religion and politics so often overlap and politics is about division. I want to come together with other people.
That said, I do believe there are creative forces at work around us. I believe we contain an essence in ourselves, a force that can be a powerful creative driver if we can harness it.
The living organisms around us as well as the soil and rocks contain energy, echoes of the past, we can ignore them or tune in and allow ourselves to be guided and protected by nature.
We will not be able to understand or challenge the earth and it's force, we must listen to it and submit to it.
It surrounds us all, men and women and ultimately we return to it and become part of it.

All that they say about Islam is wrong. Life is very very simple. I follow Islam and I will try to share with u what my belief is. God(Allah) is the most powerful among anything in this world. At the start just Allah was there and in the end only Allah will be. He created this world for a purpose. One of the angels of Allah disobeyed him and became devil. He challenged Allah that he will misguide his human beings and will take them with him in hell. Allah said to him those who will follow me will be given paradise and those who will follow u will be thrown in hell with u. If any person desobey Allah surely he will be punished and if any one do good deeds surely he will be rewarded. The purpose of us being created is to obey all rules of Allah. He had send his holy book Quran which contains all the rules which one good person should follow to enter paradise And all the things one should not do I.e sin. You can find it on Google. Many Muslims today are not following Quran. Surely they will also get punishment. But there are also many who follow it. Don't judge Islam by seeing what Muslims does. After death everyone will have to give answer for each and every second of their life independently. The real life is after death where we would be rewarded either paradise or punished in hell forever according to our deeds. This life is just a test. I think it makes some sense. Sorry for my poor English.
