I started having issues with masturbation when I was young, and then I gradually got into pornography. Pretty soon I was using porn consistently every week, but I didn't consider myself "addicted." A few months ago I finally told myself the honest truth, which was the fact that I couldn't go a week without masturbation.

The reason I joined this site and decided to get clean is because of all the guilt and frustration porn has brought upon me. I'm sick of watching girls who literally don't have any idea who I am and I will never have a meaningful relationship with. They really don't even care about the guys they have sex with in their videos either. It's just another video, another short term high for them. They're dirty whores. And I don't respect girls like that whatsoever.

I also don't want to ruin my future marriage. I say I'll quit before then in my mind, but the reality is I can't go a week without pmo.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to resist the urge to watch porn when you're in a sexual mood?
    Thanks!

First, get a banner (the green bar) to keep yourself in progress.
Second, keep yourself busy and try not to get into sexy mood.
Third, punish yourself if you have a thought of watching porn. (eg slam your face, have a pure cold water)
    You get my support bro

Thanks for the advice. I just got a green bar; that will help for sure. And yeah, with those sexual thoughts, I just need to put them aside and focus on something else that is meaningful.

Do all the research you can about why you got addicted in the first place. It's not because we're bad people, it's because we overstimulated our brains and got hooked on that dopamine rush.

Visit YourBrainOnPorn.com Plenty of resources there.

Go through the Success Stories forum. It's inspiring to hear about others improving.

You need to know that you may experience withdrawal symptoms, that's a sign that your brain is returning back to a normal state. It's going to suck before things finally get better, so stick it out!

Learn how to notice when temptation first comes to your mind. That way you can stop what you're doing, and take that sexual energy and redirect it towards something in life that you actually want to be doing.

I hope that gets you started. There's a lot of valuable information out there.

You could move the computer to a open place, like the living room, so that it would prove more difficult to masterbate.
