First week of the rest of my life

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the NoFap forum, so thought I should take a moment to introduce myself and announce why I'm here.

(Deep breath)

Well, my name's Andy, I'm 31, I'm a bisexual man, and I've decided that I want to give up watching porn, for good. I've been using it since I was about 15 or 16. My past attempts to quit haven't succeeded; now's the time to change.

There's a lot I want to talk about: what drew me to it in the first place, why I continued using it, how the habit became entrenched, what the effects have been, and how and why I am determined that this is going to be the time I cut it out of my life successfully. I know there's plenty of time for all that; I look forward to reading the stories of other NoFap members and sharing my experiences with them.

If it isn't premature, I want to express my gratitude and admiration to everyone here who's already made the decision to quit and is participating in the forum - and above all to the guys who had the bravery and confidence to create it. I think it's tremendously uplifting to see a constructive approach to a problem, a concerted attempt to understand and support men and women who want to make a change to their lives. (I also appreciate the secular character of the website; I'm totally agnostic, so won't be framing my experience in religious terms, though naturally I have no problem with the fact that some people do believe in a God and find comfort and strength in that).

I've said the first week, rather than the first day, because it is now a week since I stopped watching porn or masturbating. I'll post about that later; I don't want to go on too much in my first post!
