Flatlining For Three Years?

Three years ago I use to feel the amazing NoFap benefits after not jacking off for two days. That was until I reached a flatline on a streak that was about 15 days. Then I relapsed on that streak and the flatline like depression kept with me. So for the first time I didn’t feel happy on a two day long streak. And that feeling has kept with me for three years. Now, I’ve been stuck in a relapse cycle for 3 years now without feeling the slightest bit of happiness. Is it possible for flatlines to stick with you like this? Or is it something else?

The body is strange and different for everyone but i dont think this thing can happen, there is something else. Something that i see on this community a lot is that most guys have linked everything bad to porn and nofap flatline ,there are other things in life that can create problems, not every problem is created by porn

If you like go check for clinical depression
I mean I’ve cleaned up my diet a ton, I’ve been exercising, and I’ve been taking some helpful supplements but haven’t noticed much of a change. I’ve also gotten blood work which has come back normal. And I might be wrong but doesn’t depression usually get better once you fix those things?

Diet and excercise are just one piece of the puzzle. The goal is to have enough energy for living your life and feeling healthy instead of feeling bad due to ill health

Hapiness and fullfillment comes from having a meaningfull life. From being excited about what you do.

Tell me, what is your life about?

Do you get any penis movement down there? What about your mental symptoms healing? If not, I'm sorry to say that you may need more time. I'd say keep going.
I’d say I had had some movement and I did feel happy for a bit but I was on an antidepressant during the streak so then again it might of just been the antidepressant.

Idk man. I had a passion before I hit the flatline but I slowly lost interest in it as I felt worse. Just because I didn’t have the energy.

Rebooting is a tool for shifting focus in life on something meaningfull and simultaneously "getting on a roll". You start accomplishing goals and your quality of life improves. This creates a positive feedback loop while you learn to manage your state and emotions through other means than fapping. Thats when you start to feel good.

You will never get out of "flatline" if you have nothing else going that you are passionate about. Now you are playing the waiting game, but you can only get better by doing something.

Have you ever seen people wait on the bus? They all seem to be in a bad mood. Well you have been waiting on the magical "my mood will improve-bus". The catch is, that bus will never come. So you keep waiting and waiting and your depression only gets worse.

So a simple formula for succes:
Set goals that excite you. Work hard. Manage emotions and thoughts. Feel better.

I would advise you check out some PAWS threads. Post acute withdrawal syndrome. This is where some of the more long term rebooters go when the standard 90 day reboot simply does not cover it.

My longest streak is 16 months no PMO, so i have an idea of exactly whats going on.
Wow man thanks a lot for sharing this with me. You definitely saved me a lot of time by showing me this. I checked out the thread and watched some videos and it seems like my symptoms match up almost perfectly. Did you go through something like this?

Happy i could help.

Yep pretty similar, I've been going through this for about 6 years. Its always nice to know that you are not the only one suffering.

I've read multiple stories like yours, and didn't understand why people were still feeling like shit after so much time, because after all, if you PMO much less you are making progress, right? Well, it couldn't be more wrong.

After a lot of research I stumbled upon "the kindling effect". There's not much information about it on nofap but you can read a lot about it for other addictions like alcohol and find many stories of guys that felt worse than when starting nofap even though they PMO much less than before.
What it does is that every time you relapse while recovering you get worse and longer withdrawals, and from what I've read it would take many years of abstinence to revert it.

This changes everything. It means that even a single relapse after recovery can be worse than PMO'ing for weeks normally.
So when you quit you have to quit forever. There is no going back to porn. A relapse could mean you start again from 0 and this time will take even longer.

Wait your saying it’s taken you longer than 6 years to recover from this? Or that you’ve just been addicted for 6 years?

Well see the thing is recovery only happens for me when i am on a long streak. 0-3 months is the hardest due to all the initial withdrawals, after that my symptoms are still there but get gradually better the longer i go without pmo. Every relapse sets me back to day 1 and completely ruins progress and brings back initial withdrawal.

Actually the above post by GGan is true for me.

The longest ive been is 16 months without pmo. The longer i went the better i felt month to month but in my case its going to take longer than that.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I definitely binged a lot since I just simply didn’t feel anything from one relapse. And that’s probably why my recovery is going to take a long time. People should probably talk more about this in porn addiction. If I knew about how dangerous binging was I probably would of saved years of depression.[/QUOTE]
