    Promise four done - I weigh 92kg (202,8 lb)
The weight reached after (3 days)
Today I crossed down the category obese class I to overweight.

I noticed that it's more and more difficult to lose my weight now. At the beginning it was 33 hours enough to lose weight by a kilo / 2,2 pounds but now it's lasted almost 3 days. I had to limit my scarse food intake by a half in last 2 days plus more sport - especially quick longer walking. So I reached the hard phase where every kilo will demand a major battle. I don't care, let it be - only the time untill I reach my goal will be postponed.

Now it's relaxation time - today I can eat a bit bigger portions but every meal must be ended before I feel full - the following meal can be not sooner than after 3 hours from the previous one. Binge eating is absolutely forbidden.

You guys have shamed me into it. I surmise I am shorter than both of you as my ideal weight (BMI 25) is 77kg. I am at 85kg at the moment (yes, Mr. Eko, you are right, Anglo Saxons like me would do well to fully embrace the metric system). I have had a few successful weight loss campaigns in the past and I know that nothing can break the law of energy balance (Calories In/Calories out) thus I hereby commit to a caloric intake of 200 calories less than my BMR. Using Mr. Eko's most effective promise method, I will begin with a promise of two days, starting today.

Oh sh..t!!! The next competitor arrived! I'm starting to be afraid about my imaginary gold medal on the finishing line...
How are you going to measure it? A scale weight? What sport are you going to do?

My next promise I took today is to lose my weight to 89,9 kg (198,2 lb).

This time it's a bit more than 2 kilos (4,4 lb). I want to break the magical boundary of 90 kg (200 lb). I decided to limit my food intake portions by a half and do more sport. So now it's really a starvation mode - 3 times daily a portion not more than only a half of piece of bread (or its equivalent in volume).
Above all it should be proteins which build muscles. In addition once daily a portion of fruit / vegetables. I'll be hungry as a bear for a week or so because my body passed to low calory expenditure mode and my metabolism slowed down a lot. But I don't care - no pain no gain, the ninja mustn't be soft.

The only limits are my health plus when I become too weak, tired then I'll break the streak without breaking my promise because such a case was incuded in it.

I have had success in the past by managing my caloric intake and calories burned to a number less than my BMR which is about 1700 for someone my size and age. As for exercise, we have a small farm and this time of year there is plenty of physical labor required. When autumn and winter come, I will return to using an elliptical trainer and free weights.
Unfortunately, yesterday I didn't make it and I see I must proclaim my diet promise to the rest of the family if I am to be successful. Last night my visiting daughter made a big dinner and would have been offended had I not heartedly partaken. There was then a surprise birthday for my granddaughter with cake and candy. Before it all began my wonderful wife poured me a glass of wine and had it sent to me before I could refuse. Poor planning on my part resulted in failure.
We have a medical style scale for tracking weight, so no cheating in that respect.

Therefore, my food promises have some exceptions - for example, if there is a family dinner at the weekend, I eat too, but my portions are small, although a little larger than if I eat alone. Secondly, when someone offers me some food, a dish (often a visit), I do not refuse it, so as not to offend him, but I take smaller portions.
And I always write and shape all of this in my promises, so that I have some reasonable exceptions in every promise.
Do you eat everything when you lose weight by watching your calories, or you restrict certain foods such as carbohydrates and increase others such as proteins? Do you ever feel hungry in your diet? What was your biggest weight loss in your weight loss approach and how long did it last?

I think the body metabolizes various foods differently. The calorie value of food is calculated by combusting them and measuring the generated heat e.g. energy content. Clearly the body doesn't work that way but nevertheless it is a reasonable approximation. I have tried carbohydrate restrictive diets but had little success with them. My greatest successes have been on the order of 20 lbs (pesky imperial system again) of weight loss achieved by maintaining my calorie intake to 200 to 500 calories per day less than the sum of my Basal Metabolic Rate plus calories burned by exercise.
However, in this case my aim is not only realize weight loss but to maintain it so I will be trying to maximize vegetable intake and reduce meat, wine and bread although not eliminating them entirely so my cravings aren't excessive.
Despite a failure to follow my intended diet so far, I am down 1.5kg. Probably all water loss since I have spent most of the days outside working on various farm projects and have not been paying attention to hydration.

Promise five fulfilled - I weigh 89.9 kg (198,2 lb)
    Weight achieved after (7 days)

It was really hard because my metabolism slowed down considerably as a result of my strict diet. I had to walk 3 times a long distance. Today it was about 10 km / 6,2 mi (20,000 steps) - it took me 3 and a half hour. I am very glad that another barrier has fallen. Without a promise, I absolutely couldn't help but eat many times.

Now, a longer time to relax, because I'm going on vacation - my minimum goal is not to gain weight during this time - I'm going to take bathroom scales and control my dietary limits. After the holidays, the fight will be continued as hard and ruthless as possible. The ninja musn't be soft.

Congratulations and thanks for your inspiration! Also, thanks once again for pointing me to the text "The Spiritual Combat" I am finding lots of wisdom there! Stay strong on your vacation and may the time away feed your soul.

After returning from vacation, I weighed about 2 kg more than before departure, but on my return, I renewed my strict diet and after 3 days I weighed my final weight just before departure, which is 89.9 kg (198.2 lb).
Last Sunday I made another promise (the sixth promise), this time the most difficult one.
Well, I will eat very limited portions of food plus heavy physical training at least 3 times a week until I reach 78 kg (172 lb) - that will be 2 kg (4.4 lb) below my final weight of 80 kg (176 lb), 4 lb ), which I am going to not cross. I already have a good idea of what to do to remain 80 kg (176.4 lb) for a long time, but it's too early to think about it for now.
How long will it take to reach my final weight? I don't know, maybe a month and a half, maybe two or more.
Last Monday I joined the BJJ sports club (Brazilian ju-jitsu) beginner group. The workouts are hard and take an hour and a half of very intense exercise, because most BJJ students have been training there for several months, and most of them are much younger than me. I am probably the oldest student. After the first workout, I lost 1 kg (2.2 lbs) and after the next I lost the same 1 kg, but I know that it was mainly water that I was sweating, and in the following days I did not lose 1 kg, but less. So BJJ will help me lose weight and when combined with my strict diet it has to be effective. Of course, if I start to feel too weak or sick, I will start to eat more - this exception is written in my contract (promise) with God.
    The ninja musn't be soft.

Feel free to come work on our little farm. No problem losing 1kg a day and no gym fees. The only problem is putting it back on with too much good food and wine. I am now focused on losing 20lbs over 100 days. Among other things, no between meal snacks, no crisps and no wine. I think slow weight lose is better than fast weight loss. It is more likely to result in a sustainable weight (or so the Dr.s say).

Today I've reached 78 kg (172 lb) - two 2 kg (4.4 lb) below my final weight of 80 kg (176 lb). It took me four months to loose weight by 16 kg (35,3 lb ) and I must say clearly that without the promise method it would have been impossible because lots of times I was so hungry that I would have broken my loosing weight if not for the promises to God I had taken.
The loosing weight phase has ended today and I know that I will gain weight if I don't have an effective way to keep off my weight at the maximum limit of 80 kg (176 lb).
Of course, without the promises method it's impossible to me to keep off my weight. That's why from now on my strategy is:
    1. To promise to God that if I cross the max limit of 80 kg (176 lb) - measured each day in the morning then I will have to drastically decrease the amount of taken calories that day. Even only to drink (maximum 1 liter of drinks with low amount of sugar and the rest drinks without sugar, water etc. ) plus 1 or two fruits. The following day should be OK but if I still weighed over 80 kg I would have to repeat another 'low calorie day'. This should be enough.

Of course, I need an iron consequence and this can ensure me only a promise.
The only exception can be occasions when I am invited or holidays like Christmas or Easter. In that case I could cross 80 kg but directly after the holidays I'd have to limit my calorie intake for some days to return to 80 kg. limit.

I'm ready to keep a healthy diet and not to overeat for the rest of my life because I know that I have food addiction too and that I'll always be tempted to pmo or overeating. But the aim of life cannot be pmo pleasure or belly pleasure or other pleasure.

One tip is to go to "stop the addictions" I read their articles for quitting porn and they also have great stuff on food addiction in their weight loss program. They go into great detail on why it is important and how to change our thinking.

For example, they say: We quit because Jesus has something for us to do. If all we think about is P or food we can't even prepare to do what He needs for us to do.

When I described 'my method' I wrote that the main, most important point to get rid of addictions is honestly trying to do what God in His word - the Bible says we must do, plus what His church - Roman Catholic Church teaches us to do.
Of course we Catholics mustn't take conclusions and the understanding of the Bible on our own. Only the church - RCC can tell us how to understand the Bible and what to do according to God's Word.

So to get rid of addictions one must try to do what the church teaches but not neglecting this. And Roman Catholic Church says what Jesus has for us to do.

I don't trust any other sources outside of apostolic churches (like Orthodox, Easter Orthodox ) and first of all - me as a Catholic am obliged to listen to Catholic Church, not any other.
It seems that 'stop the addictions' program doesn't come from Catholic Church circles - rather Baptists'. I'm not a Baptist. I try to listen to our pope, our bishops, our saints, our Holy Roman Catholic Church. And I can say - it's sufficient, Catholic means are fully sufficient provided one really tries to do what our Church teaches. There is no need to listen to other churches to get rid of addictions.

Great work, my friend. Your efforts and results are inspiring to many. Today, when I am in mass, I will pray for your continued success, please pray for the success of all of us in drawing closer to Our Precious Lord.

Yes, drawing closer to our Lord is the only method to get out from any addition because the nearer the Lord the more free one is and consequently the further from our Lord we go away ( not obeying Him or choosing what to obey and what not ) the more enslaved we get in all aspects of our lives. The first being the enslavement and weakening of our will and decreasing clarity and freedom of our mind. I'll try to regularly pray for this small Catholic community. We should form a group of Catholics here who daily pray for drawing closer to Jesus and / or offer their sufferings and / or Mass).

Christmas is comming and in Polish tradition there will be lots of food and overeating time. It may have come from older times when our parents, grandparents lived mostly in (very) poor conditions, not rarely suffering from hunger (especially before spring and first crops so called 'przednówek'. So traditionally at least two times in a year ( Christmas and Easter) the Poles wished to eat as much as possible and as good dishes as possible. Today it's not necessary because the standard of life increased for most Poles so much that the overeating and overweight becomes a plague.
I remember from my childhood that only two times a year I could eat oranges and genuine chocolate there was enough of good eating - Christmas and Easter.
But nowaday's nothing justifies the 'overeating tradition' but many are in.
And in my mind it's the stupid idea of unnecessary Christmas overeating which will for sure result in weight gaining, not to mention that good and rich eating mustn't be so important during Christmas.
To defend myself from this unhealthy tradition I decided to take breaks between meals which will take for example 5 hours (like today).
Of course my decisions are too weak to keep them when you see that all family members eat as much as they wish and when you see the fridge almost bursting etc. So as always I have to promise to God that for the following 5 hours I won't eat with exception of fruit (which is yet healthy). Today I did so and I must do this in the following days - after each meal a 5 hour (or more) promise not to eat.
I feel that only promises can rescue me.
