As a fapstronaut newbie and a guy who is 22, I found these lessons valuable from David De Las Morenas. He is a youtuber and his channel name is How to Beast. Forgive me for digressing but now I'll get to the valuable points:
7 Mistakes you can avoid or overcome to see improvement in your lives
1. Believing a partner can complete you.
You may find temporary happiness in a girl, say if you are a guy, but eventually the only person who can keep yourself happy is you. If you base your happiness on external metrics like relationships, when that shit gets bad or you break up, you are going to suffer. Yes brothers and sisters, keep it real. You are already complete, the other things are just enhancements to improve life.
2. Trying to get better at things simply by reading about them.
Believe me when I say this is not useful at all. I am a self help book worm and shit has not improved in my life, cause you know, practicals is more important than theory. Like my role model Bruce Lee once said "knowing is not enough, we must apply."
3. Giving too many fudges about what others think.
People will judge you for a minute and then forget all about it. That's what people do. Imagine a situation where you were one of those people who were laughing at someone for doing something apparently stupid at that time, sure you judged that guy, then what? You forgot about it and moved on. People are in the end egocentric (most of the times.)
4. Not taking the time to build a supportive social network.
Everybody needs some friends they can lean on in difficult times. And it qualifies as a basic human need, so why not invest in a good social circle. One that is true, trustworthy, accepts and values you for your honest expression. Good friends can make the tough times seem like a roller coaster, fun and over before you even know it.
5. Believing others should give a fudge about you.
You are not the center of the world, trust me. 7 bil and rising, in a planet which is a speck of dust in a galaxy which is tending towards non existence in this observable universe. And if it's a multiverse you're f**ked. Poor Rick and Morty, they know their true value.
6. Hesitating.... in life.
Hesitate and there goes your opportunity... If you sit and try to make sense of everything you'll realise sooner or later, nothing makes sense. Yes, might as well play along with this strange act called life. Yes, life is a game and you're the player, why hesitate. Ask that crush of yours out already, show for work even though you haven't done jack shit. Be brave, funny, kind, compassionate, a dickhead or whatever you want to be, after all if it's all an act then we might as well enjoy it.
7. Trapping yourself in the material world.
This is dumb, any person with material possessions will know the anxiety that comes along with it. So stop being attached to it, that bling will fade away any day, and the money is just like a river, it flows in and out, stop living for it.
