Hey guys. I just wanted to make this post about video games, as I'm sure it's relatable to many.

    SWEET FREEDOM FROM VIDEO GAMES
I have been free from gaming for the last 7 months. The level of freedom I feel is amazing. No longer do I have the constant struggle of "should I improve my life, or should I take a break and play".

When I was gaming, it was a constant battle over whether I should play or not, and constant guilt and regret after those long pointless binges.

When I wake up in the morning now, I'm free from that. I have the beautiful freedom of being able to do the things I really want to do, and make my life better. I still have to choose whether to work, or be lazy on youtube, but youtube gets boring after awhile.

    CHANGES SINCE I QUIT
Since I let go of gaming, my life has taken off. The amount and speed of change has been staggering. Alot of change happens when you spend your free time becoming more self aware, and solving issues instead of drugging yourself with a video game.

I am not exaggerating when I say that my life is changing for the better 500x faster than when I was gaming.

    HOW I QUIT
I know that quitting is not easy. But actually it is. What do I mean?

I had been playing League of Legends for about 4 years. I tried to quit multiple times, sometimes a few months, but it always came back.

But, as soon as my life around gaming improved to the point where video games was holding me back, that was when I made the conscious decision to never play again. Because it just wasn't worth it. I realized that I would gain so much momentum in my life, and then I would go backwards when I played. I didn't want to go backwards anymore.

The key to quitting was not so much about forcing myself to quit, but rather about advancing my life so much that gaming was the last chain holding me back.

If you are trying to get free from the video games waste, it's important to understand 3 things.

    1. You are gaming for a reason, as a way to medicate some painful situation in your life, and escape.

    2. You don't have to quit completely, but rather commit to 5 minutes a day to sit in your car, and face your problems. Speak them out, clarify them. And improve on them, little by little.

    3. When you improve your life enough, you will want to leave gaming behind because it's the last thing holding you back. The future is now brighter. You don't need the fantasy life anymore.

I will repeat again, because it's really the most important point here:
Commit to 5 minutes a day to sit in your car, and face your problems. Speak them out, clarify them. And improve on them, little by little.

When you improve your life enough, you will want to leave gaming behind because it's the last thing holding you back. The future is now brighter. You don't need the fantasy life anymore.

Best of luck on the journey. It is very worth it.

I did the same and quit gaming, for a good while now. I was an avid gamer, and was very good at it. But it is just another way to escape reality. Maybe not as bad as PMO, but it still overstimulates your brain with a lot of dopamine. I decided to drop gaming after reading "Your Brain on Porn" book. Maybe gaming once in a while isn't a bad thing and maybe beneficial as a stress reliever. But us addicts, this will never be possible and we must say our goodbyes. Think of it, there are a lot people with good lifes, that do PMO regularly. But they are not affected like we do. Because, they were not addicts. But once you are, you can not do that "once in a while" thing, you have to drop it for good, and do not get near it.

There a lot of things that overstimulates the brain and i think we should be clear of those as much possible. Like browsing funny videos, binge watching tv shows or anime, reading or watching about interesting stuff etc

I definitely can't do the once-in-awhile thing with gaming. It is too easy of a dopamine hit, and makes life seem dull.
