Condemning masturbation isn't only characteristic of religious bigotry.

According to the famous Mao Zedong's biography "Mao", masturbating was perceived as a serious moral offence, with the offenders having, for instance, condemnation slogans hanged on the door of their dormitories if caught while doing it.

Also, regarding the USSR (source: https://www.rbth.com/education/329540-russian-kids-sex-education):

"The government, however, soon embraced a conservative social policy and advocated abstinence before marriage. Brochures were published about the dangers of frequent sexual intercourse, which allegedly could even lead to dementia (my emphasis: how does that relate to our "cloudy minds" from masturbation?). There was also the notion that masturbation was fraught with the most terrible consequences.

Isn't it interesting that the ideology which originally favoured wife-sharing (in the manifesto of Carl Marx himself) was so sexually prudent in practice? The threats of sexual promiscuity to social order are universal and independent of ideology.

    This is a curious fact.

Isn't it? Under communism, your penis is state property which must not be violated.

Luckily we live in the enlightened times now, where the WHO is recommending nowadays that 5 year olds "discover their bodies" (you can fact check me on that all you want), moms are increasingly willing to raise their kids in a "sex-positive" household by turning a blind eye on their PMO habits (as discussed in these forums), and more and more Western countries are contemplating legalizing prostitution to secure extra tax revenues (!). So basically we are getting closer to Marx's original intention than ever.

This is probably more due to the strong pull and residual influence of the indigenous culture. Even communists like Che dismissed homosexuality as a bourgeois decadence. They were all quite 'traditional' in practice, in spite of their ideology. Because in those times, religious values still held sway over most of the population. All that has been undone now, so ideologues tend to be true to doctrine even in practice.

Well over sexuality is used to destabilize a society and after the takeover to keep order you have to suppress that over sexuality.

Yeah, probably. This thread is semi-serious anyway. But it's just funny to realise that even communists had common sense in some aspects. Of course, I'm not an advocate of state condemnation or delegalisation of stuff such as sexual orientation or personal sexual habits, because it's nonsense.

Religion, especially the one's that condemned masturbation, existed long before Mao and was introduced to that part of the world hundreds of years ago. Mao may have very well been influenced by abrahimic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam). However, it obviously stuck for a reason. It likely positively impacted them in some way... just like us!

Or the Maoists may simply have arrived at the conclusion that anything that brings pleasure and isn't state-approved or heavily taxed should be prohibited, just so that people don't feel too individual and free. It's really difficult to image that the Chinese communists in particular would give a heck about the traditional values, while razing the ancient temples and monuments and burning classical books at the same time.

I would actually read this as saying that burgeois marriage is wife sharing and communist version would be just sharing without marriage at all. But okay I get the point.
