    Hey everyone,

I made a NoFap account a couple of years ago. I remember right after creating the account and logging out, I immediately relapsed (within 15 minutes!) And never signed back in again. Now here I am, age 33 and I am finally coming to that moment in my life where I am admitting that I have a problem. I'm always tired, and always later for work everyday. I stay up late looking at porn when I should be in bed. I'm an animator such dreams of working at the major studios (Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks) and I feel that porn affects my creativity. Instead of working on my animation when I'm at home, I'll sit there thinking about porn. It's like a never-ending pittfall sometimes. This past Sunday I finally told my best friend of 15 years about my problem, to be honest it felt good to finally tell someone (and he was very supportive of me). I'm hitting that point in my life where I'm not that young anymore but I'm not that old either, and I need to focus heavier on my career and less on pornography. It's be almost 4 years since I last been with someone. I really want to feel that feeling of dating someone again, of making a connection. It's kinda dumb, but watching Chris Rock's latest stand up special on Netflix was kind of the wake up call. Him talking about his struggle with porn addiction, his joke about becoming "sexually autistic", I really felt like I could relate. Seeing a celebrity admitting it proved that literally anyone could become affected. It made me feel less ashamed to seek help.

As I write this post at 4:13am when I should be sleeping since I start a new animation job in the morning, I hope that this time I take things more seriously and take back control of my life.

    Welcome!
Oh the sparks that bring people here...We have lots of different beginnings. That a Chris Rock comedy special did it for you is amazing. For me, it was a single line in a book, Gary Zukav's The Seat of the Soul, that made me stop dead in my tracks and seek some way out of PMO. I work from home too, and your being up at till 4am+ freaks me. When I get tired I go to bed at 9pm and get up at 4am to work, which is a creative time for me. Best of luck, dude!

You can do it, take away all the triggers. Be positive and positive step realizing that it’s a problem.

Hi Animator_Rex, welcome, and wishing you loads of strength and good luck with quiting porn. Sounds like you've already made some big steps. Keep up the good work, you can do it!

  8. Heyyy welcome to the NoFap forum : ) It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a look at each section in the forum, there might be something(s) you may find of big help to you. Feel free to post there :+)

Then secondly I just strongly advise you to be active on your profile(as there quite a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then make daily status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement. They've also got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see. People will find your profile and give you encouragement/support.

People (are beginning to) love communicating in the profilesection..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive talk. It would be great to have you join in and support others in the threads, profiles, and journal. Make sure and be grateful for the help you received and help after receiving some. Invest in some people's journeys. We could always use your help and in return you shall receive some as well!

Thirdly, You should also highly consider creating a public journal and write about your days in more depth for us members to follow along your journey and offer support to you by way of posting in your journal.

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!

Hey Coffee Candy! Thanks for all the useful tips. I definitely need to be more active on here (it's been tough making time this week since I've been pulling overtime at the studio). So far I've gone 7 days without viewing porn or masturbating. I plan to keep on going.

  10. Hey and welcome to the forums! You have done great steps, keep it up!

Hope your new job is going OK. You might experience some days when you will be super distracted due to the urges, at least that's what happens to me from time to time, but keep strong and feel free to post on this forum about your days, questions or whatever else.

    Thanks,

Yea the new job is going fine so far. I've been working a lot of overtime these past two weeks and since I have stopped masturbating (it has been 10 days now) I'm already noticing that I'm not so tired at work. I'm noticing that I'm not dying for a cup of coffee like I used to. I still go to bed pretty late (working on that part) but since I'm not up late masturbating I guess I'm not draining testosterone levels or something. I've had a moment or two where I thought about masturbating, but so far I'm staying strong.

  12. Everything sounds good so far! Glad to hear that.

The thing is that not only you don't draining yourself with the PMO sessions, but probably you look at the PC less or less intensely as well. This makes falling asleep easier as you get less blue-light.
