  2. I love Americans' political engagement.
Vote for whoever; you will still get a politician, but at least in the West there is somewhat of a balance between governing and representing.
    It could be worse..

Lol I saw clips of the Dem debate today.

The winner of it was Trump. Lol and I’m not even a fan of him.

  4. LOL. I'm not even partisan and I believe that both sides are equally useless but the Dems are a joke right now. Their only plan and priority is to let a bunch of immigrants in and promise everyone all types of new forms of welfare. It's almost unbelieveable.

Yep. Regarding parties being equally useless. Point taken!

It's hard to have much faith in politics. I wish more people voted more often. It seems one more casualty of our busy modern lives is even less time for politics. Which is a misnomer because it's time for understanding and investing in our community.

Haves vs have-nots was the feudalist way eschewed by America. Now we have still shackled ourselves to titles like Dr or veteran or activist. I'm just a simple family man. So, I'm no one in modern society. Which is made worse, feeling that votes don't mean much in the sea of differing opinions on what to change the country into. Was it really so bad before, or is it still so bad now that we've ejected so many wrong practices?

Sometimes the medicine hurts worse than the disease. And, yeah, dependency is what I'm addressing there. And wars abroad for questionable causes.

The classic meritocracy vs egalitarianism which was so good for America, on balance, has now morphed into activists of a zillion varieties vs a margin of plain-old people without a cause. Being pulled in so many directions like a tug of war. Why are we Red vs Blue? (states/counties) Why aren't we all red-white-&-blue? We should be. Maybe we are more than the media lets us be.

What even are we now, what even is the national debate?

Socialism vs socialism of another flavor? That's about all I can see in it. not that it has to be binary simple. Hardly anyone wants smaller government or to champion hard work. Those that do work hard treat everyone like chattle garbage so they can amass billions for no reason.

Fake news never talks about the flipside of anything, only presents easy-to-lampoon issues like what hurts the children or which causes are obvious human rights violations. Difficult questions, to be sure. But, don't effect every day life like trying to educate children against pornography, which I only ever see done in a church but ought to be done in every home and on every radio station or wherever else parents can be reached.

p.s. Morality has been a major casualty of subjectivism.

Prager U ..... is mostly made up bullshit, why not block ppl that misrepresent facts? I mean do we want ppl to believe fake shit because it fits their narrative?

  10. The better approach is always to engage, debate, discredit. Bans and blocks only add fuel to the fire and create unnessecary scarcity and intrigue. If the facts are so obviously mispreprsented take them on and show that they are wrong.

Regardless of your personal opinion and ignoring that debatable assertion, censorship is not a good thing from either side. Its too subjective, you will end up with bias.

Is monopolization the same as censorship?

Well, by definition, no. Censoring is only that force which is exerted through the so-called power of governance.

However, in practice: yes-ish. For a monopoly as large as Google. However, I will add this, the nice thing about a free market is Google, if engaging in this behavior, basically jeopardizes their position as market leader. Because people will eventually choose other things.

And, that might be what some of the other guys are saying about just having a free exchange of ideas is always the best bet. Because it will always come out and people will smarten up. It's not a dystopian world we're in where no other voices can compete. Hence the importance of freedom of the press.

It will all balance out over time. If governments censor, they must be deposed and corrected to allow freedoms. If companies do this as part of a free market system, they are free to do so. As long as voices are not quashed that point out any errors in what is being done, then we should all be safe. Covering things up and lying about any bias, that's the real danger.

And that's why some people like the "fake news" term. So much of the news media is always after non-troversy stories. Championing specific activism only and nearly never traditional conservatism. And, intentionally squashing the conservative perspective. And, so few are talking it. The difference is that the government in America does kind of have control over aspects of media licensing, and so is to blame for much of that which technically effectuates actual censorship.

The Internet, though, is not a regulated entity. It is a free marketplace of ideas. As are the search engine results which map the way to those ideas. To introduce any regulation there is exactly to introduce censorship. Because who decides which search results "should" or should not come up. So far, the algorithms Google (etc) employ provide the best service for us, the most accurate map, instantly getting us the answers we are seeking.
