Am a 62 year old Chritian male who has been fapping since about age 12. I have never been married (a long story) and struggle with SAA (same sex attraction -another long story). Unfortunately got a laptop 13 years ago and discovered porn within a few days of getting my laptop. Within 3 months I was PMO'ing on a weekly basis. Tend to struggle on weekends (thus the name Saturdaze). Vacations are more difficult as I have too much free time when on a stay-cation. I have tired a variety of different groups over the years to help me stop my PMO but nothing ever worked. Started SA (Sexaholics Anonymous) about a year ago and now have a sponsor. We meet weekly and I go to SA meetings on Saturday mornings. I have been free of PMO for 65 days and am struggling with withdrawal symptoms like crazy. I learned about sub-porn and realized that I was getting a dopamine fix even though I wasn't actually looking at porn. Stopped going to any type of web site that would trigger me 2 weeks ago. I have a feeling that going to those websites is the reason I am still deep in my withdrawal symptoms. Anyway, I have to stop PMOing as it is ruining my life. Have got to do this no matter what.

Welcome friend. Your not alone in the struggles not alone in the shared victories.

The first step has been done. F2F is good, and I see it as a priority in my recovery.

I'm encouraged to see your active involvement in your recovery.

Keep posting here, share the hope and healing.

We are here for each other.

Wondering what you guys do about the images that keep creeping into our heads. Mine just show up and my mind starts remembering the video that was attached to them. Ugh. I am concerned that dopamine gets dropped into my system and is lengthing my reboot. I am able to stop them after about a minute, but would like it to be shorter or not at all (like that is ever going to happen).

Oh yes, that theater in the mind is so real. I went to get a sub sandwhich and I saw someone and my mind wanted to play an old rerun from the porn files.

It's sad to say how those neuropathways have been established and can't be severed. It's just the way the brain works.

But I've been looking into what I CAN do about this predicament. They say the best thing is to create new pathways and keep them going.

What I'm doing now is replacing a new image in place of the old porn images.

When porn approaches I invoke an image I found online of a glass baseball being hit by the bat into a million pieces.

In other words I take that porn image and hit it out of the ballpark... I'm creating new neuropathways. Making them stronger than the old porn pathways.

I can't find that image online anymore, but I'm looking for that shattering baseball again.

But that image is burned into my brain, created a new pathway in the brain.

I'm burning NEW images... Good images... Not easy but with the same tenacity that I have engrained and persued the porn mindset...

I will persue those good images. Walking the beach, experiencing that double rainbow, the image is there now. That sunset, lake placid from top of the mountain? So many images I can bring back to fight the porn images

Why not take that opportunity and finally come to terms with being homosexual?

I am having the exact same problem. One idea that another user mentioned to me is to take a cold shower. The best of luck to you my friend

Having SSA isn't an issue for me. It's who I am. I feel like I have come to terms with it.

I appreciate everyone's response. Am taking semi-cold showers when it's not too cold outside. We got a lot of snow recently which makes it difficult to take cold showers (brrrrrrrrr). How long do your cold showers typically last. I can only stand about 3 minutes right now. I do think they help though and I want to work up to longer ones.
