Hello I'm Raid, 27 and from Germany. Im new to the NoFap-Community and It's my first reboot.
I didn't watch porn for 29 days now, but now I want to stop masturbating as well. I want to be the master of my libido and not yield the urge everytime Im sexually aroused.

I tried it two weeks ago, but for me this is even way much harder than just stopping porn, but I'll give it another try. Wish me good luck!

    Thanks

Hi RaidBull, welcome and good luck! Consider writing a journal. Quitting masturbation is tricky, this is why places like nofap exist. But it can be done. The rewards are priceless.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

I just made the decision for quitting also masturbation, so thanks for your question, now Im about to make me a (better) plan.
I successfully stopped other addictions (alcohol and other drugs) and the key is often distraction.
For porn I did not have much strategies, for me it was not too difficult to quit, although I was a heavy user. I just keep in mind the positive benifits of stopping porn and negative symptomps of using porn, everytime I have craving for it.

For stopping masturbation, I am sure, I'll need more stategies and I also have some Ideas. But here is my big question: When I have craving for porn or drugs, it disappears after distracting me through other things, but what about horniness, how does it disappear? Thats my biggest problem and fear. Already after 2 or 3 days without mastrubating I am horny as hell and distraction just works for a short time and from day to day Im getting even hornier. At least that are my ecperiences for the last times.

There is a good chance your addiction to M is greater than your addiction to other stimuli. The horniness will subside but you have to endure the cravings which are difficult. MO is my Achilles heel and I know the difficulty that there is in resisting it but it is doable.

OK, Raid, it is important to have a reason when quitting, a good reason, a reason that is important to you. This habit is a habit we probably would not quit unless it had some bad repercussions in our lives. Cigarette smokers would not quit if it did not affect them adversely. They lose lung capacity and eventually get cancer. There are all kinds of bad results from using porn all the time. From PIED (porn induced erectile dysfunction) to social interaction problems.
"When I quit, I quit. I did not count the days, I woke up every morning and said to myself I am never going back". I think that is the mindset you must have.

I do have good reasons, I just thought quitting porn would be enough. So on my last attempt I was not really trying to stop M, I just tried to make a pause.
I do already have benifits from stopping porn, like my brain fog has disappeared. But the real thing I want is, to get more confidence, so my social anxiety reduces and therefor I would do almost anything. Of course there are also other reasons...
I've read D.J.'s "In Case You Didn't Know" and I've learned a lot from it so I feel pretty confident. Thanks a lot for your answer! :)
