Guys, what are some of the reasons you told yourself that it was okay to PMO?

What excuses have you found yourself rationalising?

Like, checking to see if everything works sexually...
Or, I won't really look, I'll just peak...
    What's the point...
I'm curious to know so that we can be aware of this and stand our ground kinda thing.
    Yeah... let me know!

"I'll stop when I get a gf" was the first excuse I used and it took months before joining nofap because of this.

  3. I don't really make up excuses to pmo. I just seek out pleasure. I've done a lot of drugs in my life and none of them compare the tardhappy feeling which orgasm brings, so I do it because the pleasure level is amazing. The after effects, not so much.

But you want to stop right? So what makes you choose PMO despite the harmful effects later on?

Yep! Is very hard for a woman to deal with an addict partner from any type, and it would hurt even more if I did this to someone.

  7. Really it boils down to impatience. Instant gratification is more appealing than the suffer through shit to get the prize type of gratification.

Yeah...I guess the effects that can addiction could make you wonder whether things could work out with the guy. It's good to see that you're considering your gf's point of view!

That's true - you think in the moment really.

That I was stressed out. That I wanted to check to see if I could get it up. That I had a dream about an old girlfriend, or a girl who I'm sexually attracted to. Etc. Etc. Not worth it! Keep going bro!

  11. For the most part, yes. Take food for instance. If you made food choices based on the body you want and the future you want, how much of the food you're eating right now is truly conducive to those goals? How many times do you actually think about your future fitness goals when you're in the moment of hunger? What makes you choose the unhealthy food over the healthy food? Taste? Convenience? Both are a search for instant gratification.

Excuse I wold give would be: my wife doesn't want to have sex... Then I'll just PMO... I have needs... Also, when wife and I get into arguments, urge to PMO is very strong...

Yeah, exactly. Usually your true goals take longer to achieve and is more work than the easy, accessible option. It's like choosing to study or going out with mates, watching TV or just plain procrastinating. It takes a lot of commitment and self-control to achieve your goals but it's worth it in the end. (I actually had a fitness crisis moment earlier this week - I was supposed to go for a jog but was too tired but I made up for it later ahaa).

  15. It's the nature of life, really. Fleeting rewards come with instant gratification and then the suffering. Lasting rewards come with suffering and then the gratification.

Yeah!! It's like nature isn't it? You put in the hard work then you wait it out. You'll go through up and downs, Autumn, winter but the harvest will come.
    Very insightful :)

  17. Exactly! But nature will always go to the max! Flowers, trees, animals, etc all live to their maximum potential. We're the only living thing which doesn't and this is because we have the power of choice.
