  2. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
    Ephesians 6:12
I'll wrestle with you, brother. Day 10 for me, no PMO.

  4. Look "Flyhigh", I love this Scripture:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
    Isaiah 40:31

huh...hadn't even thought of that verse. I picked it because of what Israel means, thus the avatar.

  8. 1 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

    Hebrews 4, 11-14

  12. Hey Wrestler, how's the "hands free for Lent" going?
I hope well! I'm closing in on 30 days and plan on doing another 30 days. That, for me is a goal I can pursue I think. What's your plan after Lent?

I'm not having the greatest of times. School is maddeningly busy, like, equivalent of 2 courses due in two weeks kind of busy. I've been pretty down lately.
Last weekend I masturbated to preempt looking at porn, which...it's not great. I'm glad I interrupted the cycle.
But when things like sleep or eating or showering are disturbed, it's not like I'm setting myself up for success.

  14. I have been so close to viewing porn this last week, I'm surprised I haven't!
It's taking a great deal of discipline and emotional pain, because my wife is no longer interested in a sexual relationship. So, it's really a daily survival for me. I started hanging up Scripture on my walls, so they are right in front of my computer where I would ordinarily PMO.
I have the following two Scriptures printed and hanging in my office:
"for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds"
    2 Cor 10:4
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
    Romans 8:1
    Hope these bless you also!

I have made the choice to stop PMO for Lent as well. A couple of points if I may:

First, I have failed. I have looked at porn. I have masturbated. I have, however, still managed to avoid ejaculation/orgasm. Perhaps a small victory, perhaps a huge one. I am pleased that SOME form of control is starting to take hold. Baby steps, I guess.

Second point, is "giving up" smoking, drinking, gluttony and PMO really the point of Lent? Aren't we supposed to "suffer" to remind us of Jesus' suffering? I ask this as a sincere question. Maybe we addicts are suffering by giving up at least part of our addiction.

    What do you guys think?

  16. Absolutely! It is suffering for us! Everyone has a different level of it, but we all suffer in varying degrees in this life. It is comforting to know that Christ's suffering was beyond comparison, because he took the sins of the world, which is really hardly comprehensible!
    Thank God for His redemption!

There can be no doubt that Christ suffered by FAR more than any of us.....and he didn't have to.....He was God....That's the amazing part. And even while dying on the cross, he saved a common thief.....

In that light, I think we can go a couple more weeks......

    Thank you Fanchman.
