Hard to Forgive Ourselves

I'm currently in SAA and can relate. I go through bouts of feeling shame for the stuff I used to do. I remember walking in the woods a year ago, stopping and getting down on my knees to ask God for forgiveness. It seems as though self-forgiveness, and forgiveness in general is a process. Whats helped me recently is a talk by the priest Father Thomas Keating where he said something to the effect 'God knows people mess up and he doesn't mind it at all'

I share your concern about relapsing; although I've found confidence in going so long without it, I am acutely aware everyday that its only 5 degrees away from me at any given time. I struggle with lusting and objectification as well as anxiety. But I don't want to end this on a down note because I see too many glimmers of hope to do that. God is good all the time.

 

Yes i too find it hard to accept. As i sure dont deserve forgiveness! Isnt the Lord amazing!! Colin.
