Has anyone here eliminated Porn addiction first and then masturbation addiction?

Yea I want to know to. I can some what deal with not watching porn but eliminating masturbation is almost impossible for me.

 

I can't seem to separate porn from masturbation. I am glad to be free of porn today. It's when i masturbate the idea that 'porn will make this so much better' pops into my head and i end up looking.

Today i am focusing on no porn, no masturbation, no orgasm. It's a struggle but not impossible.

Porn and masturbation seem to go hand-in-hand for me. It doesn't matter what i look at either. I once jerked off to a cooking show.

 

I'm here doing hard mode, no porn, no masturbation, no orgasms. Besides that, I am also participating in No Nut November. I associate masturbating to porn and I'm pretty convinced that I can't masturbate without porn so I'm going without both. It's called a reboot. For my success, I don't set doing no-pmo for a year. That's too long so I break it up. Right now I want to reach December 2nd. After that, I'll reassess and make a new goal. In the long run, I want to eventually go for three months. I'll see then if my reboot is complete. I have no clue if any member of this forum is doing just no porn only. That won't work for me.

It's a curious thing: does the pornography necessitate the masturbation or is the masturbation compulsion drive the pornography use?

I've been long hard at this now for some time, and can honestly say. Stopping masturbation was more difficult than stopping porn. I only used porn as fuel for the M compulsions. Elimate M, watching P without it became pointless and boring.

 

For me, it was eliminating P first. Longest I went without it was 9 years. Then came M. Longest without M was 1.7 years.

P and M are two separate battles. You can be free from P but not necessary M. Also, it’s possible to M without P or lustful imagination. P necessarily lead to M, but M does not necessarily lead to P.

With that said, you can’t be fully free in the sense that you will have absolutely no more urge or desire. All you can do is suppress and subdue them until they come back again.

According to nofap.com, in order to beat addiction, you need to stop porn AND masturbation for up to 90 days to reboot your mind and get a clearer understanding of masturbation and sex. I'm not sure you are committed to eliminating your addiction. For me, like you, I cannot masturbate without porn. What did Seth Alexander do and who is he? Anyway, masturbation and porn, in my case are linked. If I were to return to masturbating, eventually I'd be back watching porn. I've sworn off both at least until December 2nd. I may return to masturbation at that time but I'm completely done with porn. You say you cannot masturbate without porn then, at the end of your message, you say you are going to let yourself masturbate freely without porn. Which is it? Are you able to masturbate without porn? Does this mean you will turn back to porn? I'm sorry but porn and masturbation are too linked. Freely masturbating without a reboot will lead you back to porn. Please clarify your position.

I mean this as well. I never want to go back on my word.

i like to believe that i am, though the truth is undeniable.

Porn leads to masturbation, as masturbation leads to porn. For me the two are inseparable, and as much as i think i can go back for a tug or two, porn is waiting there for me, to make my experience that much 'better', and my suffering so much worse.

 

For me it started with the latter but overtime morphed into the former.

If you still have the urge to M whilst taking P out of the equation then at least you haven't totally screwed up your libido, it's when you have no real desire for M or sex but still can't stop looking at P that you really know you're in trouble.

 

I'm not sure how these two stack up: if you cannot masturbate without porn how will you allow yourself to freely masturbate without porn?

 

I went the route of quitting porn first, now masturbation second. Like you I thought I wasn’t able to masturbate without porn until I did it. First to fantasy in my head and then just to nothing. I got it where it almost felt like urinating right in the morning. Pleasant but nothing more than that.

 

I feel this is an important topic so i keep commenting when i find something relative to my situation.

I knew porn had to go. No question.

I have a difficult time letting go of masturbation. Even with porn out of the picture, the sensation of orgasm is where my addiction lies now. I do have a very good imagination when it comes to lust. Anything goes and anything can happen. There's no risk of STDs.

But if i allow myself to masturbate i will look at porn again. I know this without questioning.

 

When I had no girlfriend, what helped with not masturbating was staying busy, and out the house as much as possible. Still though, I would do it every 3 weeks or so, because of discomfort.

What has greatly helped with not masturbating now adding to the above has been having a girlfriend. I know I can get a release every 2 days or so, often by her asking for it. Soon though, my moms coming to visit for 15 days. Let’s see how I manage then, since the plan would be to go without sex for at least a whole week.

 

I think its logical to quit porn first and masturbation second eventually when it becomes impossible to achieve erection and orgasm by self simulation and in that case probably would be good to have a gf by then

 

My plan is to quit step by step till the fantasies get replaced by personality and humor
