hi everyone I'm a 53 y/o guy, my goal is to just not watch any adult content for 30 days...the other day I realized it's been almost 40 years watching porn/ nudie mags playboy etc... So the "rewiring". Will take time and I'll be patient...
Trying to kick a habit now of checking certain adult sites out of habit just like checking email, social media , NPR watsapp etc....
Tried 12 steps but it's kind of tedious although in person is better than online I think.

Wellcome Vet81, hope you get help and support here.

Being accostumed for so long will surely be a challenge, but also makes every day of victory more special... (i.e: "It's the first time in 40 years I go on a week without this..."). Fight on!

You can PM me if you need to.

    Hi Vet81,

Yeah, I hear you. I'm 56, just started to #fightthefap on Monday. Been PMOing since my first Playboy in 1973. Have been on SA in the past. It works well, but yes the meetings can be a haul. Like anything else, it works if you work it. I'm trying to spend the same number of hours here, reading, responding and getting ideas to try as I would traveling to and from, and being in, meetings.

    Here's some things I'm trying:

Put a porn blocker on your phone. Search here for recommended software for your model.

Keep a grip exerciser nearby. When you get the urge to surf, drop the phone and squeeze that thing til you look like Popeye.

Get out into Nature or somewhere public that you can sit and reconnect with your true self, with the phone off or somewhere else. Too much noise makes it hard for me to make good decisions. Turn down the volume.

Go to the library. Get some good books. Make time to read them.

Get involved. Even something small like buying a box of cereal and putting it in the Food Bank bin @ the grocery store can make you feel good about yourself. This can give you fortitude when you need it.

Read and contribute here. There's a reason we made it into our 50s when some of our friends didn't. Share that.

    peace and strength

Thanks for your reply and kind words. I totaLly agree about spending time outdoors or in nature, this helps a lot .
I gotta add porn was harder to come by "back in the day" --sometimes I wish the Internet didn't exist !! (Because of all the porn, distractions, social media and BS) but of course if the Internet didn't exist neither would this forum !
    Peace .!
