Hello World!

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by mrtumnus, Jul 12, 2019.

  1. Hi all! I'm a 32 year-old male with a wife and kids. I am a Christian, and have been struggling with PMO since I was 11 or 12. It's been an on and off struggle mostly on my own, so I'm glad to find this community of like-minded people trying to improve themselves, especially outside my usual Christian circles. I've previously been a part of in-person accountability groups and still have at least one partner I keep in touch with. I figured that since I spend a good portion of my time online, I might as well have more help from Internet People.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this will work. My current streak started at the beginning of this week. I finally realized how PMO was affecting my attitude toward my wife and kids (resentment, anger, irritability, lack of energy). Can't have my cake and eat it too! My goals for this 'reboot' are:
    • 90 days PM-free
    • Increase non-sexual interaction with my wife (or if sexual, then O is not expected)
    • Don't expect sex
    • Don't be resentful when "not getting enough"

  4. He is the friendly satyr the kids meet in Narnia in the 'the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe' by CS Lewis (my favourite children's book). There is a link to pmo here - I find it interesting as while Tumnus is the model of the perfect 'nice guy' from Lewis' epic, Pan - the Roman/Greek god of lust and debauchery - was also a satyr. I think Lewis was telling us something here: never judge a book by its cover, and furthermore everyone can receive redemption. Love Lewis TBH. He was a wonderful human being and author.

P.s. Sorry for invading your welcome thread @mrtumnus. We have the same handle!

    P.p.s. Welcome from me too!

  6. Yes, Pan would definitely be the 'god of PMO' (not Aphrodite/Venus as some might think - an important distinction perhaps).

  7. Thanks for the welcome guys. Also a big fan of Lewis. Love his space trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength).

@Mr. Tumnus - Now I know who's stealing my handle on other sites! Haha
