Hey Guys,
I've been a member of this site for quite a while now. However I always kept telling myself that i can get rid of my addiction to masturbate by myself and found the idea of asking for help "weak" or "stupid".
Im in a tight spot right now. I'm young, im about to write the most important test in my life in about a month, thats gonna decide how my career goes and most importantly i came to realize, i NEED help. I tought it would be best rly, to just have one person or so, that always tells me that he/she had a successful day not masturbating, cause i know that that would get me fired up too and would help me to control my desires.
Masturbating doesnt allow me do reach my full potential in life, and it has gone so far that i cant overcome this addiction alone.
It would be like having a study partner u know, seeing the other person study would make you feel motivated as well.
Thx in advance

Hi. Welcome to forum!

I do not know what you mean by stupid. Using tricks of psychology on your own brain and mind to succeed is not stupid. Maybe it is weak to need help. But it sure as hell works. I personally think it's better to be weak, whatever that means, and succeed with help of others than be alone and never succeed. Sure we might have stayed true to our limiting beliefs, or some type of "honor" maybe, but the guy who succeeded with help is still in a position we envy and wish to be in.

So make sure you crate a personal journal thread in Reboot Logs section and blog there on a regular basis. As well as just generally be active participant in various forum discussions. I recommend this to everybody new here because it's the major thing that helped me when I was first starting. Just lurking on forums, reading and learning is great. But it usually is so much more powerful to engage. It helps to keep us motivated and accountable when we are active part of community. And keeps this in front of our minds so we don't forget about importance of it and slip away in our old habits. Sharing is also therapeutic. This is a major reason why AA meetings work so good. But that was developed before internet era. These days we can get most of the same benefits online through communities like this. So don't underestimate the power of active participation.

If you are looking for accountability partner then we have forum section for that - https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?forums/accountability-partners.7/
There is also groups on here you might wanna join for some help - https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?forums/accountability-partners.7/

I would also like to suggest you to look into mindfulness meditation. It has helped me personally tremendously to learn how to deal with urges. It takes a while to get good at it and notice results, so you need to be consistent with it, but once you do it's very powerful. It has been used by sages for thousands of years to deal with various issues of the mind. And in recent decades the science is also catching up to what ancient sages have know for centuries. Meditation these days are widely used as very effective tool by psychologists for treating addiction and by neurologists for supporting recovery of the brain. It is a great exercise for the brain the same way as jogging is great exercise for the body. Check out this Ted talk, it gives a good idea of what's it about when it comes to philosophy. As far as practical side of it there is this awesome smartphone app called Headspace for guided meditations to get you started.

Wish you lot's of strength and success in your reboot journey!

Hello and welcome!

It sounds like you're looking for an accountability partner, which is a great idea. May I suggest posting that desire in the forum for accountability partners; also, you can scan the posts of others, and link up with someone who seems compatible.

I hope you keep coming back.
