Help Needed especially from those who have been on the grind for long time!

  1. Hey so I have been on Nofap since last year's February or so and the most I have accomplished is a few 30 day streaks at best in this time. There was a time where nofap was like just this top top priority, like I would tell myself that watching porn or M'ing is just pathetic (it still is!). But then I had 3 months of exams and the complete focus on nofap kind of took a back seat. Also during those times I watched a lot of nofap motivation and that really inspired me to kick this habit in the balls but for the last 3-4 months or so, I've just been doing it as a formality. Like 10 day streaks and then m'ing just because I was bored and had nothing else to do. I haven't been able to spend time on gymming or anything else either this whole time (I'll be free to do that in 3 days or so). I just need to know what drives you folks, cause fappinf is seriously affecting my motivation. I'm just tired and everyday is a like a chore...rise, study, eat, sleep late, repeat. How do I motivate myself when my brain just brushes off every small shred of motivation as if its nothing?!
Also if you've had long amazing streaks, pls tell me when did you feel the physical and mental benefits! My brain just seems as if my skull is filled with some weights and thats it! I almost feel stupid while writing this down because by now I should have done the 90 days and more but any and every advice is appreciated!

Great job on your multiple streaks.. you're getting there! As a person who has been through exams all the way to PhD and being a professor myself, I can tell you that the reason why PMO is now behind me is because of an attitude change. Don't be one of those students that confine themselves for days till they cram up material. You know that if you studied all day, you probably only focused for 4-5 hours. Why not just study for that amount of hours, and tell yourself. "I am not allowed to study after that" Take the rest of the day off to learn something new, to relax, or work out. The problem is that we feel bad if we rest and have fun during exams... this needs to change. You'll notice your grades are higher as a result, I guarantee it.

You gotta fill up your life with meaningfull activities, and not just studying.
Find something that entertains you, but where you can also express yourself, where there is no pressure to perform and not much focus is required. Think drawing, dancing, making music of some kind. Writing poems, no matter how bad you suck at any of these, do them for you, for yourself, for fun. To get to know yourself better and learn what your creative mind is capable of. Something that isn't a chore, and isn't mindless sitting behind the TV or anything like that.
Fuck man, even play Minecraft if you want, it's just virtual lego! Build something neat!

Some other suggestions are to take up coding, tinkering with electronics, woodworking. Just reading a good ol' book, fiction or not, as long as you can find yourself in it. Go for a hike, explore your enviroment, think about life, think about who you are.

To your point about playing with anything online, I would say DON'T. The part of your brain that is addicted to porn is hooked through the time you spend online. So the less time you spend online, the easier it will be to stay away from the addiction. At the same time, many of us use the internet as entertainment, but in fact, it was created as a tool. I think the bigger picture here is that we need to start using technology as tools again, rather than a source of entertainment. Or at least limiting the time we spend is an important step.

Good thinking, fair enough. Was really only popping suggestions for the hell of it. But you are right, the less time we spend online, the less there will be temptations.

  6. Hey thanks for the tip! As a student this brain fade really gets annoying, having no motivation to study like 4-5 hours before the test is just irritating! The worst part is that I'm getting really good marks anyways so my brain thinks that studying *on time in advance* is pointless but I've got hiccups here and there which normally shouldn't even have been there. I'll start with like 2 hours at a time, what do you suggest??

Yes I started gym! I'm like 25 kgs overweight and I'm targeting that weight loss for now. It's a really powerful motivation for me, I have quit aerated drinks like pepsi/cola over it for weeks and I'm hoping for that. Most importantly I'm trying to build discipline, that's not easy for me but I'm trying my best. I'm doing my bachelors in computer science but I had never done anything related to coding before in my life. For the past 4 months I've been learning in my college and its really interesting! I do love coding but it just gives me another reason to sit with my laptop, so I'll do it responsibly like in the living room or so. Any other ideas for spending free time? Thanks for the suggestions! :D

The opposite of addiction is conecrion so if you can bond to new peippe or secrete oxictocin by being tender wih soemeone It helps a lot

I saw the main differences after 150 days but I guess that is individual

I hope you find your way of being happy aimlessly
