Ok so... Regular 18 yo male, watching soft P since 2014 once a day plus MO, specially at night, more likely during stressful conditions. No active sexual life yet, likely to start kinda soon :)

Since the beginning I knew this PMO issue could be bad at some point, however it never escalated to bizarre things (rape, violence... makes me sick) because I could get the same arousal with every video if it was within "normal" standards. I convinced myself this wasn't so wrong as long as it didn't interfere with my normal activities. Big mistake.

Years went on and PMO was a way for me to get a quick dopamine rush and escape stress and loneliness, kinda imagining what it is like to be with a real sexual partner (it never happened btw lol). I never felt like increasing the duration or frecuency of the sessions... that daily five-minute session of softcore P while MO was more than enough, but I've been lying to myself.

So my PMO symptoms resulting from this issue are related to my arousal sensitivity (does that term exist? xD) the point is I get hard when hearing moans or sex related noises in almost every situation. Also I feel like getting hard when a girl is touching me for too long or having an intimate talk with her even if it is not related to sex at all. Most of the time I don't get totally hard but is uncomfortable af (and can get me into trouble too :/).

Aside from that, other great issue is social anxiety and lack of confidence. I've been working on that and seen some progress over the years yet there's always been something keeping me from overcoming these problems. Also I've lost the capacity of enjoying many things I did like (exercise, reading literature, playing music, going out...) so I became an apathetic sloth recently. Been reading about the negative effects of PMO in every aspect of life, neurochemistry of addictions, dopamine release and receptors, testosterone raising in seven-day semen retention and things like that, and I've drawn the conclusion PMO might be potentially causing these problems without me noticing.

Physically, fatigue has become a constant issue even though I've done my best to keep on with my life. Genital sensitivity is normal but I know it can change along with the erectile and ejaculatory function. However I won't know how damaged I truly am until being with a girl (hopefully I'm not that screwed) and that makes me pretty nervous. Don't get me wrong tho, I've got a lot of friends, good academic performance (fatigue and laziness are threatening this), good family life and a potential gf, yet I'm tired of this whole thing, I know my life can be better, and I don't need PMO to make it true.

I came across this website and I saw a golden opportunity to stop this and take the first steps. My addiction might not be that severe but it's still hard to stop having sexual thoughts and urges, although I'm willing to quit this thing for good. I know some things about the rebooting process and that's my goal, so I'm setting an inicial 30-days no PMO challenge. I have some habits that might help and a lot of motivation now, however don't want to relapse because of some horny thoughts. Trying to stay away from that (no sexy images in social media, erotic stories etc...) yet some advice and motivation would come in handy for a noob like me ;D

    Wish you a wonderful day/night!
    Starting with day 1...

Welcome, and may you recover fully. Good job getting started. Stay with it. I know it will get easier. Keep using NoFap and reading about recovery from porn. Meditation helps a lot. Try guided meditations to recover from addiction. They work. Glad to see you here!

Hi buddy and welcome to forum!

  4. Hey welcome to the NoFap forum : )

It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!

First let me go ahead and drop some helpful links for you:

Getting Started Guide / Forum Rules / How to Use the NoFap forums/ Glossary/ NoFap Panic button / Set up your day counter / Rebooting Resources/ About NoFap/ Support NoFap

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a look at each section in the forum, there might be something(s) you may find of big help to you. Feel free to post there :+)

Then secondly I just advise you to be active on your profile(as there a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then make daily status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement. They've also got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see. People will find your profile and give you encouragement/support.

Theres a portion of people who love communicating in the profile section..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive talk. It would be great to have you join in and support others in the threads, profiles, and journal. Make sure and be grateful for the help you received and give some help after receiving some. Invest in some people's journeys. We could always use your help and in return you shall receive some as well!

Thirdly, You should also highly consider creating a public journal/log (in the appropriate section for you) and write about your days in more depth for us members to follow along your journey and offer support to you by way of posting in your journal.

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!

Hi and welcome to the community

I would recommend you to stay in touch with members and read their success stories. You may also learn tricks to avoid the short-term pleasure and to face the temptations.

Be AWARE of your habits and control what you see and what/who you spend your time with.

It's also important to limit the usage of social media. In addition, never be free! Use your free time as much as possible and do sports, exercise, attend classes, etc.

This video contains everything that you need to know about porn addiction. Lastly, here is a collection of ways to deal with the urges which worked great for me.

֍ You got this my friend ֍
