Hi, I'm a 22 year old male from south Europe. I heard about nofap sometimes ago, but I was kind of anxious about joining. I realised today that it's probably alot better to have a supportive community than to fight these things on your own. I read about people having great successes here and this gives me alot of hope. So hello to everyone once again, I hope we'll have a lot of good advices, support and discussions. Also I apologise for my Enlgish, it's bad sometimes.

Here's my story in short. I started masturbating & watching porn when I was 12. It got worse and worse as I grew older. I had a lot of privacy and free time which I often spent on the computer and one thing let to another. Sometimes I would do it 3-5 times a day. I would feel very tired and ashamed but I couldn't stop doing it and would always try to convince myself that it was normal and that there was nothing wrong with it. At 15 I went through periods of depression and anxiety and I would often do it to get away from problems and stress. As I matured I realised that this habit is really a part of the problem, not a solution. When was about 18 I slowly started thinking about breaking the habit and I decided I want to stop completely. Unfortunately I'm very addicted and my attempts were quite pathetic to be honest (I see people here who manage to go 30/60/90 days, even years without masturbating). I managed to reduce it to 1 time a week, then 1 time in two weeks and once I even managed to go 24 days without it which is sadly my best record. This period lasted for a year or two but then I began losing my willpower and focus. Because of some other things in my life I again felt depressed, meaningless etc., and I didn't have the energy to stick to my decision. I still wished I could stop but I just couldn't put up a fight. In the last 12 months I generally feel better mentally and emotionally except for this habit which I'm stil stuck with on a daily basis. I think it's now time to get back to trying to stop it for real. I want to go fullstop eventually. My first goal is to go 7 days without it. I appreciate all helpfull advice.

    Thank you! :)

You shouldn't be sad for 24 days. It's something. Joining here was a step in a good direction.

  6. Heyyy welcome to the NoFap forum : ) It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a look at each section in the forum, there might be something(s) you may find of big help to you. Feel free to post there :+)

Then secondly I just strongly advise you to be active on your profile(as there quite a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then make daily status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement. They've also got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see. People will find your profile and give you encouragement/support.

People (are beginning to) love communicating in the profilesection..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive talk. It would be great to have you join in and support others in the threads, profiles, and journal. Make sure and be grateful for the help you received and help after receiving some. Invest in some people's journeys. We could always use your help and in return you shall receive some as well!

Thirdly, You should also highly consider creating a public journal and write about your days in more depth for us members to follow along your journey and offer support to you by way of posting in your journal.

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!
