First up... sorry. This is a very awkward topic. Yes, I have just been diagnosed with zoophilia. I don't like it, it's intrusive and has needed with my entire life. It cane to a head recently and I have seen a brilliant psychologist who has shed light on aspects of my life that I never understood. But unfortunately it's clear.

Now I literally need to learn affection for humans (yea that sounds even worse when I say it out loud).

Thank you in advance.

hey man, thanks for joining! It takes a lot of courage to post here. You made that first step :)

we all have our messed up fetishes and back story. You're in a place that will hopefully be welcoming. in my experience it's not about how strange or bad the fetish was / is, it's about what do you want to do about it today.

People that are 100% committed to recovery often get better. Those that aren't; or are half-assing it, generally get nowhere.
In 12 steps they say "half measures avail us nothing."
Nothing! It's all in or all out with this recovery stuff.

That's awesome you are seeing a psychologist. There are 12 step meetings for this specifically too and yes, we can learn to find affection and love from humans. I wasn't into animals, but that doesnt mean I knew what those things were from humans by default.

Keep up the great work - keep posting here and updating us :)

Thank you. It’s good to see support, especially on such a tricky subject. I am very dedicated to improving my situation… instincts are a nightmare though. For now, I feel like I have much more control than I did a few months back. Some good direction from councilling has helped a lot for sure, and has worked better than expected.

Still have to keep going and hopefully if I feel like I am struggling, I will be able to deal with it.
