Hi there !

Andoanon

Fapstronaut
Dear NoFappers,

I join the group today and I have to say I'm happy to see that a lot of people want to take part of it. I gotta say a few years ago I started a therapy to finally get rid of pornography in my life. It took me through some of the worst moments of my life, but it was necessary because today, I am finally ready to join the fight.

I don't feel the urge to masturbate anymore but sometimes, when I'm bored, I masturbate. I don't wanna waste my energy anymore and I wanna become more confident with women.

I learned a lot of things the last days. Happy to know that people realise how much Internet pornography can be a real problem.

Thanks for all people. :)

Hi Andoanon.

Welcome to the forum. I'd be really interested to hear more about the therapy you undertook. What prompted it? Are you still going? Would you be prepared to share more about "the worst moments"?

One of the great things about this site is that we all learn something from each other. There's lots of advice about helping you kick the habit here and on the yourbrainonporn.com website.

Good luck with your goals. If you need help, reach out.

Welcome! I'm glad you're here and willing to take the steps to self-improvement.

Thank you all for your heart-welcoming messages :)

I'd be really interested to hear more about the therapy you undertook. What prompted it? Are you still going?

I'm not doing it anymore because I had to move to another country so I couldn't see my therapist anymore.

When I realised I needed help to fight my compulsive use of pornography and PMO, I did something that really saved me. I talked about it to my mother. It was the first time I dared to do such a thing and I don't regret it. She told me about a therapist she knew and who lived close to my place. So I went there and started a lot of big changes in my life (quitting my job, leaving my girlfriend, going back to studies...).

The method she used was "lucid dreams".

Would you be prepared to share more about "the worst moments"?

Well, when I left my girlfriend, I had some of the worst moments of my life. I still lived with her and I didn't realize how difficult it was to keep on living under the same roof. I was depressed, I tried to sleep with another girls but nothing happened.

And I could see her having dates and preparing herself to see new guys. It was killing me.

After a few weeks, she told me that she was going to move to another town, far away from where we lived. It was a relief for me. I thought "great, I will be able to reconstruct myself without her".

She found some room to live there and I found a room too somewhere else. I was ready to begin anew.

The day she moved, she started sending me some text messages saying she was sorry, she wanted me back... For 3 days long she harassed me with that. She sent me messages on facebook, called me and sent me 18 messages on the phone... She told me she had changed. And I was vulnerable. So I trusted her and when she came back I told her I was ok to begin anew.

She told me that I came back too fast. She was seeing someone. I was in shock, but I thought "If she wants me, she's gonna leave him, then."

A few days later, she sends me a message asking if I want us to spend the week-end together. I answer that yes, I want us to rebuild something. She tells me that she promised to the other guy to go and see him. So, what could I do ? She went in week-end with this guy and I suffered so much. I thought she was going to leave him, but she didn't.

Everything was falling apart. So I did the worst choice (seriously, never do that brothers and sisters) I could do : I chose revenge. I made her breakup with the guy for me and then I dumped her.

I'm happy that everything is now over for a year. I'm now ready to love heartfully and not repeat the errors of the past.

Okay, I just got this thought, people.

So the reboot switch is around 90 days. Is it all it costs ? Yes. 90 days free from porn and masturbation.

Think about it for a second. Assuming we live approximately 90 years in a life. 90*~365 (if I don't count the leap years) = 32850 days. So what's 90 days of discipline in a whole life of freedom ? Around 0.27%

Take a perspective about it. It's like 4 minutes in a 24 hours day. It's nothing.

4 minutes of your day time to get better and feel love for other people. That's all it costs. Are you ready to pay such a toll ?

It's been 14 days now and I'm getting off the flatline. My desire is back. A bit frustrating not to be able to share this desire with a girl but I commited myself to only make love with someone and not masturbating on my own.

I made myself this promise and I'm gonna stand tall. Every day is a little victory building a big one. My sensations are coming back, it feels good.

Hope you guys are okay.
