High Heels - Possible Trigger

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, Aug 31, 2017.

  1. What do you think of high heels?

If you're a woman do you wear them? If you're a man would you want your woman to wear heels?

The Why Factor podcast did an episode on them and it can be listened to here.

It's quite interesting since they go into the history of the heel and they reveal men originally wore them. In fact the first ever wearing of them were horse riding solders.
While some interviewed say it makes them feel sexy there's a bit of criticism of it as well. Inducing that from a Senior Podiatrist and a feminist

    Here are their quotes

'Usually the body weight will be tipped more to the bowl of the foot and this places unnecessary stress on joints that may not be able to take excessive weight. This then could then cause problems like arthritis or increase the risk of more severe bunions... In very severe, extreme cases the mussel shortens so much that when they're not in heels they can't get their heel of the foot to touch the floor so it like their walking tippy-toes even when they're not wearing heels'.

'High heels are a product patriarchal culture, men talk about the excitement of what it does to her body, it makes her stick her bottom out and her chest out. So really it's about women can't really walk, that they are crippled and that they're being tortured by pain and that it distraughts the body'.

It should be noted not all feminists think like the feminist quoted - some view it as something the empowers women.

But do heels empower women or make women powerless?

And how about the link between porn and high heels? In The Why Factor they talk about how one of the earliest forms of pornography constantly featured women wearing heels. Today stilettos are worn quite frequently by porn stars and strippers. I remember once hearing a porn star was surprised that Harmony Dust (social activist for women who work/worked in the sex industry) shouldn't wear heels because of the connection between such shoes and the sex industry. So should fapstronauts be against heels?

Another thing is that porn star thought that Harmony Dust shouldn't be wearing stilettos because she's a Christian? So does that mean such shoes shouldn't be worn by Christians?

Also how about high heel wearing being an addiction? This woman claims it was an addiction and these women appear to be addicted. Is there somewhere on the internet a forum like NoFap for high heel addiction? I mean how serious can this addiction be?

I think they do empower women for the simple reason that they make them look taller.
Also quite a useful emergency weapon, it would really hurt if you got whacked in the face with one.

  5. Interestingly in the podcast they said they could trap a women because she's unable to run away in them. I guess the question is would she have enough time to take them off and whack her attacker in the face or would she be able to kick someone in the face if she's on the same level as them. But yeah, your post reminds of something I read in Harmony Dusts biography where she broke a mans nose by kicking in the face with her stilettos.

I'm very short... My SO is 16 inches taller than me.
I love heels so our relationship height and my relationship with boots is harmonious.
However considering most men look for women 92% of their height (this is 2-3 average of inches below them, extremely high heels make this(their) relationship for another, other than nonserious mates unlikely. (with your shoe theory)
So yes, I think what you are saying makes alot of sense.
    In most cases

  7. So how many hours per day would you say you wear them?

I work from home mostly now... But I can spend 8 hours a day in them if I leave.
And mine are 4&1/2 - 6 inches depending on my shoe

  9. High heels are hot. They do make the butt and chest stick out they make legs look longer and

    **TRIGGER WARNING**

give you something to hold on to if your lady doesn't mind her legs up. And have you ever had a pair dig into your ass??? Good times....

I rhink they're sexy as fuck. They can make an outfit classy, flirty, sexy or outright slutty. So thank you to whoever made them a women's fashion staple.

Don't even get me started on boots...

I love them, but they can hurt. They make me close to 6 feet tall and that just feels too tall for me because my husband is 6 feet. I do wear boots with a 3-4 inch heel though out and about. I save stilletos for the bedroom.

  12. According to Stanford University anything over 3 1/2 inches is bad for you. I also remember reading anything over 2 inches can be a danger to health. I have had this strange relationship with heels. I admit they're sexy but they can cause great damage to the person wearing them. Sometimes when I see a woman wearing heel I start off thinking she looks good in them and then feeling sorry for her because of the damage they'll eventually do to her. But then I watched Dr Melanie Locke's video on YouTube about wearing heels pain free and realised just because I see a woman wearing them doesn't mean she's wearing them all the time. In that video she says to bring along flats when you go out but I think that's kinda dumb. Maybe it's because I'm a man but it seems a bit silly to carry around flats, when you could forget the heals and wear the flats anyway. Of course I understand why she would carry flats if it's apart of dress code at work, but I think it should be illegal for a woman to be forced to wear heals at work. I remember some point last year there was a petition to get the UK government to make it illegal for workplaces to make a woman to wear heels, I signed it myself and from what I remember the governments response was rather mediocre. I guess if you only wear them on special occasions they'll be no damage done.

    I have hyperlordosis.
My doctor even told me to wear 4inch heels when pregnant as to straighten my back to reduce pain from pregnancy.
Most people have hyperkyphosis (curved neck) I'm a 'swayback'.
So it's not that bad on me.
However, not everyone can say this, I'm sure...
And you are absolutely correct... It's bad for alot of people.
That's why alot of women walk like baby giraffes

  14. That's the thing with heels is they can be hot but in a way it's like the womans humps are brought to our attention and once they have our attention do we care about her mind?

But if I'm being consistent I shouldn't be against it since I've said we make too much of how women dress. A relapse can't be blamed on a woman who shows some skin. But the differences is that a woman showing off her body isn't damaging her body like heels can.

Good thing most women like flip flops and young girls like high heels... Lol... Or am I the only one who has noticed the age/shoes thing?

Yup... Depending on how old you are, you can pretty much say, "too young for me!" depending on the shoes, and place (IE work hours) every time.
For instance... High heels at 2:30 (just after school) and in suburbs/outter town ring, that's a 17 year old girl trying to pass for 21.
    Almost every time.

  19. I don't really think that deeply about it. I think it's dumb for feminists to start looking into the origin of heels and whether or not they are "oppressive." If you like the way they look and make you feel, wear them. If you don't, don't. It doesn't have to be such a big freaking deal.

I've never worn heels regularly, just on occasion. Nowadays though, especially now that I'm older and married, my main goal most of the time is to be comfortable. My husband thinks I'm cute pretty much no matter what, so I don't really see the point in wearing super uncomfortable shoes unless I want to look extra fancy or pretty or something on occasion.

I also have terrible balance and a really "heavy walk," so high heels are just weird for me to wear. I pretty much wear boots (with no, or at least really small, heels) or flip flops most of the time. I would rather be comfortable than wear heels just for the way they look. I do, however, know people who actually like wearing heels and feel really comfortable in them, so good for them.

  20. I think it's more like young girls are really focused on how they appear to others, and when you get older, especially when you get married and are no longer trying to attract a mate, you stop caring about that stuff and would rather be comfortable.

I can't wear heels for more than a couple hours. If I wear heels somewhere, like to a party or church or something, I usually take them off for as long as I can and only wear them when I need to.
