Has anybody had any experience of high prolactin being a cause of their low libido and/or ED issues?

My prolactin levels have seem to be rising year on year. From 380mU/L a year ago to my recent one of over 600 which is way over the upper limit of 324mU/L.

My other markers seem pretty good:
    • FSH - 2.2IU/L
    • LH - 6.34IU/L
    • Oestradiol - 129pmol/L
    • Testosterone - 22.7 nmol/L
    • Free Test - 0.526nmol/L
I've currently been porn free for over a year and on a hard mode streak of over 90 days with poor libido and erectile function. I'm looking at vitamin b (p5p) and vitamin E to reduce prolactin naturally but also speaking with GP to see if cabergoline is needed.

    Hello superduck105
I am new here . Have been reading the forum for quite a while but It was your post really that made sign up here .
We seem to be in the same boat with ED and similar hormonal panel and elevated prolactin levels:

    Prolactin : 609mU/L.
    FSH : 5.90 IU/L.
    LH : 6.40 IU/L
    Oestradiol : 93.1 pmol/L
    Testosterone : 22.0 nmol/L
    Free testosterone : 0.346 nmol/L.

I am in the process of contacting my GP to arrange an appointment to repeat the tests.
I bought a home kit and did the tests myself so I would like to get them retested.
    Have you started any treatment?
Have you had any other tests to rule out any pathology?

I would appreciate if you could give an update on your situation or if any other member have any more information or experience and wants to share it

    Thanks

Great numbers! Prolactin is pretty easy to lower. Especially if you quit PMO. How old are you? I would KILL to have those numbers, haha.

    Thanks Arnulf
I am 45. Actually prolactin can be quite tricky to measure properly.
Anxiety in general or anxiety during the test can elevate the levels.
I have arranged for proper blood tests with my GP.
Currently on 3 week hard mode no PMO streak so I am curious what my prolactin levels will be and whether abstinence can affect prolactin levels.

Yes, stress can elevate the levels. I have been very successful in lowering my prolactin with Vitamin E, Vitamin B6 and Ashwaganda. Mine was in the top part of the range, but these supplements did the trick. Also make sure you get daylight. Might wanna check your vitamin D levels while you're at it. Make sure you're not in the lower end of the range there.

I have been taking multivitamins plus a protein shaker with lots of vitamins and minerals so I should be ok with Vitamin E and B6.
Also have been on vitamin D as I was deficient when checked 2 years ago.
    Should be ok now.
Had the bloods today so I will know in a couple of days how my hormones are.

I think my problem could be related with low dopamine . I have had restless leg syndrome throughout my whole life which is suggested that might be linked with low dopamine.
Low dopamine could be associated with high prolactin ,as one downregulates the other one, and also with erectile dysfunction

Since I stopped masturbation and porn a year ago ( have wanked 3 times and had 10-11 orgasms over the last year) my restless leg symptoms are much better and I sleep better.

Abstaining from porn and masturbation is not a problem for me but apparently what I did wrong throughout last year was that I was browsing and chatting on hook up sites which would give me something some kind of twitch downstairs, despite not ever touching my cock, and leak of precum.
So it could be considered as a form of edging I reckon.

Anyways now I am on hard mode , no browsing or even fantasising plus I ordered some bespoke supplements containing
Ashwagandha, Vitamin E, zinc, maca powder, ginger extract, ginseng, tart cherry.

    Let's see if they help

Sounds like you are doing a lot of things right! Please post your labs here when you get them. I am doing bloodtests every few months while trying new things to improve my numbers. A lot of trying and failing. I am determined to maintain a LONG streak this time, until I start getting morning wood again and feel better. Then I will re-test and see if Testosterone is higher. There has not really been done any good studies on this (except for that one study that showed that Testosterone peaked at 7 days of abstinence), so if enough of us guys do this and compare our experiences, maybe we can finally prove that rebooting from Nofap will raise testosterone.

Lowering prolactin should also be a natural effect from higher dopamine, and thus improved Testosterone levels. Prolactin is also a part of what makes us lose our hair, so maybe we can finally start proving something, and not just rely on a lot of anecdotal stories.
