Does anyone else like make a collection of videos to keep which you don't want to lose. If I try and delete some I find it so hard to not download it again in fear that it may be taken off the website ect.

Yes, I collected lots of porn on my computer. A lot of the time, I would just save, save, save, without ever looking at it. I'd organize it all kinds of ways. I was always looking for "the best," although it is hard to describe what qualified as "the best."

When I'd try to stop, I had a hard time deleting it. And when I did, I'd start back collecting a lot of the same stuff.

A funny thing would happen when I'd work hard to regain a coveted video. I remember one in particular. When I found it...it didn't do it for me. I'd built it up so much in my mind.

Totally agree with @Septimus. I used to collect, hoard, and this was way before hard drives allowed the space for it, so I bought hard drives to fill up with stuff. Folders, alphabetizing this stuff, etc... I organized more than I watched it.

When I finally deleted it all, I felt good, but it didn't break the addiction. :-(

My opinion is that just having the porn there stashed somewhere makes the relapse possible. When I went for the longest streak I deleted every piece of porn I had stashed, even encrypted DVD backups and refused to even look at suggesting websites. Everything went fine until I slowly got back to the old habit, first by reading porn stories on a website and jacking off to text + imagination and later some softcore until back to the regular stuff.

Just delete everything, don't let your files be there dormant until you get cravings and find all that is needed to get back on P.

Facebook etc was way more of a temptation than my porn ever was, seeing a friend with her cleavage on show in her pictures. especially when my libido came back after the flatline. Its strange how like you the little things are just as tempting. but yea i agree its best to get rid of it all.

Absolutely. I have terabytes of such encrypted data. To make matters worse, I have been in this game a long time. The risk for me is not if a video gets taken off a website. The greater and more common risk is that the entire network of websites disappears permanently and it would take an act of God to find much of it again. It has happened to me several times in the past five years when companies are merged/bought and content vanishes. At the time, I was very thankful to have my own semi-permanent copies of the videos.

I tend not to delete unless I know I don't want it again for the same reason you give. I am not about to go back and queue all that up for download again. That is where much of my wasted time lies from past years. I am hoping it takes them a long time to bring fiber to my locale. Fiber is bigger threat for me than my entire porn collection x 100.

I get the hoarding reasons, it is the same for me when I hoarded porn. Very hard to get stuff I have been downloading and watching since 2005 and it is literally impossible to get today.
But I don't get why keep it. It IS part of the problem, why not delete it all and embrace the goal we set to ourselves.
It is not like we get past the 90 days and it's all OK to watch all the porn we hoarded, back to back.
I had my porn encrypted in 4 DVD's and I got to my longest streak when I deleted all the files on the hard drives, overwriting data just to be sure and shattered the discs and the key files.

Keeping it is not worth it when you are a few clicks away from the past that so many bad things did to our lives. Knowing that the files are un-recoverably gone is empowering enough to avoid getting back to the websites and try to find the media again because deep down you know it is impossible to get it back.

O yes, been there done that. When I was trying to quit for the sake of it being a dirty habit (before knowing about nofap and the negative affects on our brains), I would, out of shame, delete all my videos, only to re-download them all, and then some, days later, only to delete them again, wash and repeat. That's when the light should have came on that I was addicted. I am happy to announce I haven't download a video since July, which is huge for me. One day the light just came on and told me, no more.

I would do the same with dvd's (I preferred those the most because if the internet went out, no worries just pop in a dvd), taking a hammer to them, but mostly to make sure they weren't found. Looking back, it's pretty pathetic how I hid my habits so no one would find out.

Old, but interesting and relevant thread.

In my case, as someone with access to unlimited hardware and related skills, I hoarded porn for years. On a NAS with RAID-6 and a goddam hot-spare! I'd download 5-50 files a day I kept everything that I deemed worthy. I had it organized. It exceeded 15 TB.

The day before I joined this site, I deleted it all. Permanently.

I made it so that, in order to get my hands on some, the effort would be such that I'd come to my senses before going through with it.

    so far, so good.

Good to know that my hoarding was not entirely unique.

It's difficult to walk away from something that you are still carrying with you.

    Deleting is imperative. Well done.

Wow with 15 TB you have to agree with me that 80% of those where "watch once" style of videos.

My collection fit on 3TB because it was not 720p it was Standard Definition. But there are a handlful of videos that I wish I had not deleted and now I have no way to ever find them

  17. Absolutely. When I started noFap, I kept my porn collection. After maybe three weeks I finally deleted everything. It is an important step. And yes, I was afraid that the videos would no longer be available. But this is a wrong thought.

I deleted like 75% but not the other 25%. Some of the scenes are precious as gold. And very difficult to duplicate. Because I tend to have tastes different from the more mainstream porn appetites.

There was one with this girl that moaned in a way that i found to be super hot. I mean i would pop in less than 20 seconds so that should give you an idea. It was BEYOND anything you would easily find in the future.

Thats my point. Some of these gems will be lost forever. If you just want to see buxom blondes with the loud moaning then Yeah......those kind of mainstream porn videos are all over the place.

Everything is gone. The super rare “holy shit nobody has this and it’ll get me off 1,000 times over the next 20 years”, gone.

there’s no way to recover while I had a small stash. It’s like me keeping a pack of cigarettes “just in case”.

    nope. All gone. Forever.

I’ve made resetting somewhat difficult. On purpose.

    this is just my $0.02.

    I’m not preaching.

Why keep them ? Sounds like you are not 100% committed to quitting for good? Think you'll find a way to beat the system? Sorry I have to call you out. You have to let it all go or your wasting your time here.
