This is my first post here.

I am a porn addict. I have been addicted to porn for almost 25 years. In the span of about 3 years on my newish computer, I have made a collection on my computer of roughly 3,000 videos and images, downloaded. They’re in my Downloads section of my computer.

Is there a way to mass delete these without going through deleting each one by one?

Also, the other dilemma I have is from a old computer. I have a old portable hard drive that contains roughy 900 porn videos and images. The good thing is that the old hard drive is failing, doesn’t work anymore when plugged into newish computer, and I was quoted by computer shop $200 for it to be placed on a new hard drive. The problem is the old hard drive has some documents and downloads that are not porn related that I may need.

Anyway, is there a way to mass delete the 3,000 I have now and mass delete the old hard drive porn files later when I have money to do it?

  2. Welcome. You can't delete 25 years but you can learn from it and start a new future now, by deleting your download section right now. I mean it's not hard to delete stuff, are you afraid to see what you have downloaded and start watching it? Just delete it, do it now and start a new future.

Do you have them saved within a separate folder in downloads which you could just delete? If they're not organized in anyway but just in the downloads folder, you could do cntrl + A (select all) and delete which would send all the files to the trash. It could take quite a while though.

Honestly this is probably what I'd do: Backup what little files which are actually important to you (google drive/dropbox/external device), then do a full system recovery. You've probably downloaded a fair amount of viruses and malware too with those pics/vids so wiping it out wouldn't be a bad idea.

Do you have other things you need in that folder? If not, like another user said, ctrl+a and delete. If you do, it gets more complicated. Do you have other vids that are not porn you have to keep? If yes, you need to go one by one. If all vids are porn, you can arrange items by type and select all vids. Same for pictures

  5. I can’t imagine this question is on “ how to delete it “ from a technical point of view... but more “how do I delete 25 years in a few keystrokes”.

Videos have emotional bonds to them.
Have you seen hoarders ? We are exactly like that .

Deleting my porn collection was a difficult thing to do, but man... it felt so amazing and cathartic to get rid of it though.

Set it off deleting overnight and wake up refreshed and pure to a new beginning!

The old hard disk that is broken? Might be nice to physically destroy it, burn it or bash it up with a hammer, signify your new power over your old addiction.

Whichever method you choose, do it and do it NOW.

Wow! That's a lot of stuff! I would always delete it after a few days and then when I wanted to look at it again I'd get mad at myself for deleting it. Although I was shocked to discover Google Drive backed up some of the photos once when I was going through my files. So it might be worth check Google Drive if it's connected to your computer.

I felt the same pain. Here was a collection that I took time and effort to curate, which meant something to me. To let it all go was difficult. The biggie I recommend is, no only do you need to delete, but you also need to remove from the trash can, so the files can't be recovered. As long as the porn is easy and accessible, you'll be enslaved to it.

  12. Persistence and endurance and getting busy, that's basically it, i've been trying for 2 years and what actually helped was that i went to solitude, away from computers and cellphone and got a job and went to college so i didnt have time to screw around and think about pmo. But it was a hard process, it was much harder that it sounds, but like i said, the key is persistence until your body is like ''ok dude do your nofap thing'' and you just keep going. There will be times you will feel like giving up because you think its not working but thats ur mind playing tricks on you. Also now i feel much more happier, energetic and less anxious but i still know i have a long way to go. This is just the beginning.Take care.

Well it's can be quite disappointing to delete all the precious collection.

But first back up all your important data to external drive then just format the whole drive and make a story how you accidentally deleted all your data and don't forget to tell it. It will be fun
