I've been doing nofap for 3 and a half weeks, and I've managed to stay away from PMO despite urges and triggers. I decided to start this journey for multiple reasons, one of which was to stop wasting time on PMO and get some work done, I had a school project to do over summer. I did a fair amount of work on the project and was proud, but I've still got a bit to do and I've lost nearly all motivation to finish it. I've also lost motivation to do pretty much anything, and I don't know why. Its as if I'm bored just to exist.

This project is due very soon, and I am back to school so I've got a load of other stuff to do. I need to find the motivation to do these things else I'm going to be in a very sticky situation. That's why I was wondering, what do people do to motivate themselves and stay motivated? Thanks!

I was in your situation, especially with feeling unmotivated to get school projects completed. I know what you mean because I was in almost the exact same situation as you just last month. I understand there are many ways to find motivation to accomplish something, but what I did was I asked someone to help me periodically. My teacher helped me about 3-4 times before I was able to submit my work. I guess I needed in my situation was to have someone keep me accountable for my work. I did not want to come to my teacher with nothing, which meant that I had to do the work. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for your response. I do have a teacher who is helping me with this project 1-on-1, and I do feel immense accountability to her. I've found that knowing this has only made things worse, I've been stressing out over how I'm going to tell her I'm behind. Today, however, I spoke to her briefly in the corridor, she said that everything is fine and to have a meeting with her so I should be able to get back on track. That being said, as soon as I got home today I felt the same mental blockade, even though I know I need to do this. I'll try and talk to her more though, thanks again for your suggestion.

I found myself unmotivated so many times that one day I decided to study about this problem.
As it turned out, people don't get motivated all the time, but what separates pros and amateur? The pros learn to deal with the boring moment of daily life, they're always consistent with their routine. More practically, I found this strategy applicable.

I've been doing, consistently, exercises for over 2 months, meditation for 1.5 month, reading for over one months.
I've never ever done things with that consistency so far.
Those small wins when you accomplish your daily tasks will give you motivation to do the other things. That's what I found out.
(by the way, if you can correct my grammar, it will be great help for my writing)

Thanks! This is a really cool and simple idea that I must try out. In a way, that's how nofap works. I've had good days and days full of urges to watch P, but all that I have focused on is not resetting that number below to 0. In other words, not breaking the chain! I'm going to try put some things into effect immediately, pushups, meditation etc. Hopefully that will help me a lot.

Also, I don't normally correct peoples' grammar out of fear of coming across as rude, but since you asked I must say, your grammar is pretty much spot on. You've got a couple words in there that aren't wrong, just a bit redundant and odd, in my opinion. For example, I would say 'study this problem' instead of 'study about this problem', even though I think both are correct. The other thing that jumps out is 'More practically', which again isn't wrong just a bit odd. I would've said 'I found this strategy works well' or something along those lines. I hope that helps a bit, thanks again for your suggestion!

yeah thank you, that helped me.
Try not to break the chain! That's the simple I idea and it also answer to the question "how do we keep doing things when we get bored?".
I just gradually add more habit every month. Last but not least, don't forget to keep track on your progress. Measurement is important in this game.
I feel like playing games with this. All I want to do is to extend the chain. The longer the chain, the harder to break. You can feel it, right?
