How Do I Prevent Jerking Off/Masturbation (I'm 15)

I want to try and stop jerking off completely, and I have some questions:

1) I jerk off at least once a day (This November is an exception since I am attempting NNN). Is masturbating 1x a day okay/healthy?

2) I find that my jerking off might be unhealthy since I use it as a coping mechanism to escape my trauma and stuff. Is it bad to jerk off as a coping mechanism?

3) I'm gay, and I currently use masturbation also as a way of sexual release, since I live in a very homophobic household, in which any other type of gay sexual release would cause bad things to happen. Is it alright to masturbate for that release?

1.) about your first question, only you can decide if it is o.k. to masturbate once a day. Only you can know if it is alligned with your values and with the person you feel to be/ you want to be.

From my point of view masturbation is not o.k., it drains your life energy and it makes you weak. But I don't preach what is right or what is wrong and different people in this community would give you different answer and I very much respect it.

But most of us here would agree that it's the porn which is the main problem. I would say that porn accounts for about 85% of the toxicity of PMO activities.

2.) I believe ou have answered the question yourself.

All of us have to deal with some painful feelings and thoughts before we become free.

And only when you remove all the escape routes, will you face what you have to face. And only by facing it, can you rise above it/ accept it/ get over it. Don't deny yourself this chance. There is whole world full of amazing possibilities waiting for you.

3.) Again, only you can give yourself the answer.

I for example knew that masturbation is wrong when I was twelve but I didn't listen to my inner voice and I put my addiction first. And needless to say I screwed up big time. Now it's up to you to make your choices.

@Vagar Incipi I would suggest you pick up a book/audiobook like “Your Brain on Porn”. It will describe exactly how dopamine overstimulation can damage your very personality. For example, you already know firsthand that M is a coping mechanism, which means you probably have realized that your avoiding your problems instead of dealing with them.

Its the same for me. I never knew what anxiety felt like until i started nofap. Suddenly id had unexplained tension in my chest along with heavy breathing and emotional turmoil and extreme urges to PMO. Thats when i decided to learn how to deal with the underlying problem.

Im not gay, but as a guy who started PMO at around 12-13yo and had been bound to it for 1.5 decades, I invite you to check out my and other’s journals.
