How do I quit for good? Please gentlemen

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Nov 14, 2019.

  1. I've been on NoFap for technically several years but never made it past the 50 day mark and never took it that seriously. How do I quit forever? Going through withdrawals all the time is pure shit because the shame and guilt are quite problematic. How do I stay committed for good?

You hold the key. Sorry there isn't a magic formula... and if there were, it probably wouldn't work for everyone.

At the end of the day you have to want to quit forever more than you want to PMO. That's a big task. But the good news is you only have to do it one day at a time.

"never took it seriously" - you'll have to view it as heart attack serious.

BTW - a 50 day streak shows me you are more than able. Kudos!

Do things that make you happy - and PMO isn't on that list. Life isn't fair. It's full of success and failure, good and terrible. YOU control your response to whatever happens. In my case - going to the PMO cuddle blanket never fixed anything.

Best wishes. Post often - keep a personal journal on your computer in word or something where you can put down your thoughts - make sure you password protect it.

Fix... a couple thoughts that might help...

Avoid anything at all that is anything remotely triggering.

Is social media is a trigger. Figure out why.

Stay in the moment. Daydreams lead to mind tricks. If you have a sexual thought, that's ok, let it pass.

And whatever you did on your 50 day streak... repeat it.. you know what to do.

    Best wishes... make your choice

For me, the shame and the guilt have been my primary motivators. I'm able to look back and see what the shame and guilt from porn, masturbation and such have done to me as a person and my life and it's ugly AF. I want to put that so far behind me, that I've resolved to stick it out one day at a time.

If I need to cut out gaming, social media, web browsing or whatever to help me in my quest, so be it. I do what I need to in order to make sure that I get through each day with no problem.

Remove access to the internet. Or call your internet provider to block all adult sites and sites that you feel still cause you to PMO. tell them to allow whatever site you want to. that's your main way just not even have access to porn.
