Hi. I'm 28, I don't have a girlfriend and I don't have any kids. But perhaps in some distant future, who knows... I was just wondering, how can one face this issue without making it more attractive? (That is, to transform porn into the delicious "forbidden fruit"). Would you try to explain the mechanism of the brain and neurochemicals? Would you show them Gary Wilson's talk? What age would be appropiate to to that? My parents talked with me since a very young age (around 10) about contraception and the harms of drugs, in a rational way. So far, so good for me: no pregnancy, no drug use nor plans to do it in my lifetime. I'm going to sound really old saying this, but when I was a kid, life was simpler: no cellphones, no internet, no nothing, just a few bad softcore movies one day of the week at cable. Now, porn's everywhere. And internet's everywhere, too. I don't want that my hypothetical future kid to be hooked up to PMO/MO for 10 years or more, the same as his hypothetical father is (was?). Every opinion is appreciated, especially the opinions from community members with children.
I would say something along the lines of "Porn is like video games in that it does not reflect real life."
Its complicated because society tells us that porn normal and healthy. Tell them there is new research that says otherwise. Kids are smarted than we give them credit for.
