How long does a normal erection last?

How long does a healthy, fully-functioning, rebooted, normal erection last?

If you M to sensation only, once you let go, how durable is it before it drops down?

I allowed myself to "test" today in my reboot to see progress (doing this as little as possible, like 2 week increments minimum). By "test" I mean M to sensation-only (e.g. I was reading studying for exams at the time so no fantasy either). That's bc lists of 'normal function' say you should be able to achieve rock solid erections just to touch (no porn, no fantasy needed). Success with this seems like the clincher to know if you’re more-or-less healed for ED. Bc then, in the moment with a real woman, even if the dopamine neurons aren’t super-firing in arousal/imagination/anticipation/fantasy to get an erection, the physical act of arousal/rubbing alone is enough to achieve a strong erection that can do the job.

I used a consistent, pretty slow, not too tight grip stroke and got fully hard relatively quickly. Yay me! After letting go, after about 30sec at most it dropped down to kinda a half chub. I could give a few strokes and pump it back up - the blood would get coarsing and pulsing again, but would last only about another 20-30sec once I let go again. ...Compare this to if I'm looking at a vid or pics like when I relapsed a few weeks ago and I stay fully hard pretty much indefinitely without touch. But I guess thats bc youre still aroused visually/fantasywise. While here there's no arousal bc it's not your mind and you've taken your hand off, so logically it will deflate. Jw what ppls experiences are. Is my test about normal and I'm ready, or do other ppl have far longer durability and maybe I'm still not quite as receptive to physical stimulation as I should be/still a bit tied to the visual/fantasy/porn response?? Thakns guys!!

I wouldn't do that at all if you're trying to quit PMO. But anyways, for me, when it hits in the morning, it lasts about 5-10 mins. Makes it hard for me to go back to sleep because I like to sleep on my stomach lol.

Thanx for the reply. Yeah I agree to limit any touch, that's why I'm testing at 2 week intervals minimum, and the whole process is about 2-3min max, no O.

I was asking about arousal-induced erections tho, not morning woods- which are something totally different bc they appear just depending on where you wake up in your sleep pattern. Any experience with in this regard?

If you're telling yourself in your mind that you're "just testing" and not going to allow yourself to O, chances are you won't get as rock hard and excited. The anticipation of the O is usually enough to keep you harder longer. I have recalled relapses where the moment I decide in my mind that I'm going to give in, I pretty much get an erection instantly from the anticipation and finish within a minute. But if you're just testing, of course you and your dick aren't going to get the full excitement.

As other people will tell you, testing is pointless and dangerous for your progress, and probably won't give you the accurate results you desire. If you really need to check your progress just go by how solid your morning wood is or random erections but DON'T test.

JJnofap, that's true, that's a really good point you make about the anticipation.

I was under the impression that morning woods werent necessarily a great indicator of things bc even if you're perfectly healthy you may have them or may not depending on where you wake up in your sleep cycle. eg. if you wake up to an alarm and not naturally coming out of REM they probably won't happen then. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1et5NgT6bQ) I'm not as familiar with the logic of random erections. Are we meant to be having them, or are they exactly that - random, maybe have them maybe not even if totally healthy? What causes them??

Obvis theres no surefire test to know ur rebooted, and time is the best healer so of course keep testing to a minimum is key, but I figure the physical response-touch-sensation only one is the best bet. Like then if you're not so turned on or it's dark so you can't visually arouse yourself by looking at her boyd or whatever, then you know you can still simply jerk it and get hard.

You're right I don't really get random/spontaneous full erections even though I don't have ED, and I didn't think about the poor bastards that wake up to an alarm at 6am every day while they're not even in REM.

So if you're so keen on testing then I guess the physical sense test would be fine. Obviously don't approach it with "mm let's see where this goes" ... for me sometimes I'll get a full one just by fooling with it while watching TV but I make sure to avert my attention elsewhere and it fades after like a minute.

Anyways yeah you will only officially know once you make a some nice physical contact with a female
