I came across the same heuristic that @All For One mentioned and I did the sums here: 2,131 days! Still, I'm on Day 1,308 without porn so I'm well over half way!

@ConfusedAdult, what do you mean by "recovered"? I think that makes a difference to the answer. For the men who come here to cure erectile disfunction I think the answer is different from those (like me) who come here because we want to get rid of porn in our lives. My sense is that I will be an addict forever. I am well into recovery now so my urges are infrequent and I have mastered the tools and techniques I need to resist, but I suspect that if I stopped being careful I could fall back.

  2. Wow. Way back in 2017 in a thread I never commented on. I'm amazed I even remembered that. Thanks for finding the thread Kropo. Couldn't have been easy!

  4. Oh no. I don’t have erectile dysfunction issues. I just have a PMO addiction. Seeking recovery for porn cravings and porn addiction symptoms. I notice that masturbation gives me softer erections. Just an observation for me. Not sure if it’s the same for everyone.

This is how it begins...softer erection when intercourse if you watched porn a day before...than you will get delayed ejaculation...you will fuck for hours without to finish...than you will get ED.
    Been there, done that!
What I can tell you is that ED will not be cured after 90 days...I still have PIED but cravings for porn are gone (for now).

  6. What you describe is pretty much why we all are here. I did 90 days a few times so that probably wont cut it since I went back to old habits several times after that. I would suggest at least a year but I guess once an addict, always an addict. I think urges is just something we have to learn to live with. Put them to good use and hit up some real women instead.

  7. Oh wow. Thanks for telling your story. Thankfully, I don’t have ED.

I think people expect 'urges' to be cured, urges are part of normal life. Even when healthy you'll continue to have urges, only that you'll direct it to women rather than porn. So focus should be to get rid of the addiction forever and live a healthy life.

I can also confirm that this is how it starts; softer erections. I have a vivid memory of why this marked the beginning of my pied but I will not share it as it may be triggering. Be very careful mate, especially because you seem to think ED is not/ will not be an issue for you. As you've put it, you'd rather have to clean up the pmo addiction rather than associated negatives effects too.

What is your experience with pied? It is one of the main reasons I am quiting, and I actually want to start engaging with women so that I can avoid having to seek pleasure with any alternative at all after nofap. Too many people seem to relapse after 90+ days because they seem to either have no goals after nofap, or they are not active with women and just drift back. I will send you a message as well, will be nice to be in contact with someone experiencing pied as well.

Hey, what has your experience with pied been? I will send you a message as well.

  12. I will second this. If you're still at the first stage, weaker erections, then stop RIGHT NOW. You will dodge a bullet.

  13. My weak erections last about six days and then gets hard on day seven. Not sure if the hard erection is at 100%. But I think with time it will improve.

Don't let any of the longer estimates dissuade or discourage you. I sometimes feel those citing how many years it will take for a full recovery can really put someone down. If someone is 40+ something and you tell them you need 6 years to recover, When the urge comes he might be like why even bother.
Who can define what a full recovery is? These things are highly subjective.

Just stick to it and you will see improvements. Even couple of months can do significant improvement. The more you abstain the better off you are.

Exactly. It means you are getting desensitized to that level of porn. Next thing you realise is that you have pied.

I know right! The long periods for recovery, and also people who report paws that (as a helathcare professional) sound a bit unrelated to pmo addiction discourages me sometimes. Also remember that people tend to have low quality nofap (peeking, deciding to cancel things that should be considered relapse) but will still complain about long recovery times. But overall I just want to get rid of the effect of pmo forever. So I don't care when I am fully recovered. Just want pmo gone. Also, the 90 days stands for a reason, although full recovery (urges, thoughts and many more things) will likely take years to fix, we can get significant changes after a number of months depending on the person.
