    Hi all,

I'm currently trying to focus on my work, but lustful thoughts keep popping into my mind whilst trying to concentrate. Any tips?

    Thanks

I keep a rubber band on my wrist. When I notice the lustful thought, I snap it. It, obviously, creates an unpleasant physical sensation that pulls me out of my thoughts for a moment, long enough to redirect.

  3. You cannot force yourself to not think something, instead you need to replace those thoughts with something positive. For example if someone calls you stupid you can handle it two ways, the first way being to believe it and let it eat at you, or you can denounce that lie and announce the truth which is knowing your self worth and focusing on that.

the main thing for me is to try to instantly recognize when a sexual thought has entered my mind. once that happens, i imagine a big red X being stamped over it with an alarm sound going off. i then try to get focused back on whatever it was i was doing before.
you'll likely never b able to stop urself from having lustful thoughts, but u can train urself to immediately ignore them. and i believe this may have the effect of decreasing the frequency with which they pop into ur head. good luck

    Thanks man,

I can't lie, my brain has told me several times over the last few days to relapse. I'm glad I haven't given in to temptation thus far. I feel like my confidence has definitely gone up from NoFap and that I feel like a genuinely good person subconsciously. That's the main benefits for me so far.

What benefits have you experienced in your 16 days?

Concentration is a mental state. It's more like if you are in the right state you're less likely to be derailed by thoughts. Because you can have the same thought but of course if you're focused then it's far less likely to affect you.

So it may be more helpful to work on the right mental state instead of trying to change the thoughts once you're in a distracted state, which is of course more of a proactive ongoing thing.

Ok that makes sense, how would you go about doing that?

There are different approaches and levels, a simple thing to look into would be audio recordings (not necessarily music) that are designed to attune the brain for focus, which is going to be helpful for your work or studies anyway. They may use different technologies including but not limited to binaural beats.

  9. Oh man when you figure this one out, please let me know.

Damn, would I be able to find some on somewhere like YouTube?

Maybe, but I mean if you knew something worked it would be worth a few bucks right? You might look at reviews too.

hmm, well on this specific streak, i suppose more energy in general, socializing comes easier, & it's not as difficult to do homework. i think what made me recover these benefits so quicky after the relapse was that i'm entirely staying away from potentiating my PMO pathways with dopamine. i'm avoiding sexual daydreams, as well as averting my gaze from looking at women's bodies IRL. that has the greatest effect and really speeds up recovery, i believe

Thanks for the insight. Makes sense. I'd say the socialising is a benefit I've also seen. I feel like I'm more switched on mentally during socialising, like I don't mix up my words and my responses are more snappy and I come up with them easier I guess, haha.
