I am 17 years old and have just started my reboot a few days ago as I just figured out that porn has caused my ED.I believe that I understand the process just fine but I have been watching porn from such a young age that I got my first hard ons from porn not real people. My question is after rebooting how will my brain know what to rewire it’s self to? I have had sex multiple times and all that but I don’t know if that would be enough. Any answers or beat guesses would help. Thank you!

I think you will know when you don't have any thoughts about to have a M when you are alone. Like a non-addict do. Just be with the moment, not thinking about P or any sexual thoughts. Those all pathways diminishes and no need a dopamine hit of this kind, u find sense of happiness in normal things ... genuine connections with real people. That's what I have in mind when my brain rewire and come out of this addiction.

I remember reading that for most adult males, it takes about 30 days to reset. I believe that it might be different for younger males as your brain is still developing. But while you're rebooting, I recommend avoiding any and all material that gets you aroused because the reward center of your brain is already accustomed to having too much dopamine from all the porn. That area needs to go on a "diet" from dopamine for a while. So, whatever entices you to go down the path of PMO, I recommend avoiding all of those things. For me, it was staying off of instagram and really almost all social media platforms. Also, internet searches quickly lead me down a bad path. Anyway, a friend of mine recommended this to me when I first started a while back and it really helped me reset.

  4. Wise words. Avoiding all of social media is the way to go, if one is willing to go that far. YouTube is a really dangerous place for a recovering addict as just one thumbnail can lead to a path to relapse. Also, movies can contain nude scenes and other similar things so I'd check them on imdb before watching one. I can recommend documentaries like nature, history or science documents at the beginning of a streak to avoid any potential triggers when your brain is still healing from the worst damage. Podcasts are also good entertainment. But as always, staying off the screen entirely helps me the most as they all produce brainfog. Exercising, socializing, reading, gardening and just staying in the nature are all good examples to detoxify the brain.

I don't think you need to worry about it. Your brain lowers its own sensitivity from over stimulation, but it'll return to normal after the first 30 days or so. Unfortunately that means you'll probably have multiple days of feeling terrible for no reason from understimulation before then. It's all part of recovery.
