Hypnosis and why there's no need to be afraid of it (but you shouldn't be foolish, either)

  1. Hello my fellow Fapstronauts. I'm posting this because I've seen many people asking questions about whether or not they've been psychologically damaged due to listening to or watching a hypnotic induction on the Internet. I am by no means an expert on this subject, but I have been hypnotized regularly for about a year and a half and I have a pretty good understanding of what a trance state feels like and what happens when you completely let yourself go. I would like to address some common misconceptions about both erotic and non-erotic hypnosis so that everyone can understand how to avoid what doesn't suit them and maybe, just maybe, seek out what does.

The first thing I would like to get out in the open is this:

Erotic Hypnosis is a thing and some people actually enjoy this kind of experience. They choose to partake in it out of their own free will.

Trying to start a campaign to abolish erotic hypnosis is futile and it will get you nowhere fast. You don't have to like it. Nobody's holding a gun to your head to try and make you go under (and if they were, it would be pretty hard to relax anyway). People are not being turned into assassins/drones/sheep against their will. Please accept the fact that some people have alternative lifestyles (which are not always porn-induced, I might add) that make them very happy and don't try to ruin their fun. TL;DR: Live and let live.

The second thing that I feel needs to be addressed is this:

Don't take your subconscious mind lightly.

Imagine someone cruising around on YouTube looking for something interesting to watch. They stumble upon a video called, "SISSY HYPNOSIS - LET US TURN YOU INTO A WUSS FOR OUR PLEASURE!!!" Let's hear this person's thoughts prior to them trying the vid:

"Aw, dang! Haha, that sounds so stupid! I don't want to turn into someone like that! But I'm going to watch this video anyway because MY mind is, like, REALLY REALLY strong and that crap won't work on ME!!"

Have you never heard of the phrase, "famous last words!?" Hypnosis is designed to disable your defenses. It's all about dropping your guard. If you drop your guard, things can happen when someone talks directly to your subconscious mind. Yes, if something someone says truly disagrees with you, even when you're in trance, you can most likely bring yourself back to reality in an emergency, but that last ditch line of defense shouldn't be relied upon, especially if you're really deeply under and don't remember part of the experience. Your subconscious mind is very powerful, but if you hand the keys over to someone you don't trust, something undesirable might happen. TL;DR: You're not as mentally tough as you think you are, don't use hypnotic inductions that will give you undesired effects.

Finally, I would like to leave you all with this truth bomb:

Hypnotherapy is a wonderful thing that can help you in a multitude of ways, if you let it.

Virtually all things in life can be either good or bad, depending on the situation. Drinking water to stay hydrated? Good! Drinking so much water that your brain swells up and you run the risk of seizure? Bad. See where I'm going with this?

Hypnotherapy can be and is a great tool to help you get your life in order and guide you into becoming the best version of yourself. It isn't always about eroticism and it's not like in the movies where a villain says a single word and an unsuspecting sleeper agent is instantly activated. There are many legit, kind, experienced, trustworthy hypnotherapists willing to help you with any issues you may be having in life, sometimes for free. There are many out there, but there is one that I recommend above all others (and NO, she did NOT hypnotize me into advertising for her; please keep your conspiracy theories to yourself):

    https://www.journeywithjayni.com/

She specifically states that she NEVER does ANYTHING erotic. No risk of triggers, no risk of HOCD, no nothing. She is an expert in her field and has helped me in spades, especially after I ordered a 1 hour audio file to help with my personal issues. Heck, if you want, she could probably help you on your NoFap journey. If you're strapped for cash, she has many free files on YouTube.

Well Hardware Reset, this advice is all well and good, but I've already listened to/watched something I shouldn't have. What do I do?

    STOP LISTENING/WATCHING IT. RIGHT NOW.

Also, there's something that's been mentioned by many people here including myself: There are hypnotic inductions designed to erase and remove unwanted alterations. Obviously you should be cautious before using one of these inductions, but these tools are available for free if you know where to look. Afraid it may cause more harm than good? Screen the file first. What I mean by that is, listen to the file, but don't really listen to it. It's completely possible to hear what the hypnotist is saying without letting the words get past your conscious defenses. I even screened the file that I asked Jayni to make for me before I used it. I wanted to know how she worded things so I could interpret and accept the suggestions in a way that is best for me. If you use a hypnotic erasure file and you feel as though you still aren't fully cleansed, simply keep using it as many times as you need until you feel as though the unwanted changes have been eradicated.

I think that about covers it. If you still think hypnosis is bullcrap, harmful and/or stupid, don't use it. It's obviously not for everyone, but for those that enjoy it, in whatever capacity that they choose to enjoy it in, please leave them to their own devices unless they specifically ask for help.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
