I believe I have discovered something profound - for those dealing with fetishes

    The problem I'd been having during my streaks was the fetish. I fap to fetish porn so I took up NoFap to get rid of that.

    Now for a while every time I relapsed it was to fetish porn. I wanted the normal sex drive. Well lately I tried something and noticed something profound.

    I changed my diet to shed some pounds and I ate quite low calorie (about 1,000 below maintenance). For a few days, all horny thoughts disappeared, but then they started to re-appear. But this time the thoughts that re-appeared were more vanilla thoughts, instead of fetish ones.

    In my previous streak, it took a few months to get rid of the fetish, and I had to battle the urges. I was eating at maintenance, but now this time, it's almost as if a sharp 1000+ calorie deficit has sped up my reboot.

    What I think is happening is that the urges go away once I eat less, but on days where I eat back at normal calories they'll come back. Urges that re-appear after maintenance are vanilla ones, not fetish ones.

    Obviously this isn't healthy but it may be helpful for those who are desperate.

    I think the fact that the urges are more vanilla-like after you changed your diet is proof that something changed in your brain's wiring. I am not sure what the reason is, but my guess is that, by reducing the calorie intake, the body is shocked and suddenly and uses the remaining spare energy from your diet for the most important body functions. Maybe the reward system is forced to behave normally again, because of the lack of energy, which means that it has to work like: "Hey, suddenly, there are fewer things to eat in my environment, I better stop pursuing short-term gratification and look for long-term solutions. It is better for my survival."
