I believe masturbation affects differently the mental health of people

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by MotivationWarrior, Jul 21, 2019.

  1. So I have noticed it on a people. I see some of my friends who masturbate everyday and they don't seem that they masturbate at all. You see that girls are getting attracted and you see that they are a lot confident. They are humorous, you see girls hugging them and basically they don't have problems approaching others. Personally me, during PMO period, I would be the quiet one of they group, girls wouldn't say nice things about me and my confidence would be below zero. Now on the seventh day a girl said that as I grow I will get more beautiful and another girl said good things that she would never say before. So in my opinion, some people do not realize what masturbation causes until they see NoFap and their mind is like exposing the truth. I was never confident so it didn't affect me a lot. What's your opinion?

  2. Masturbation alone doesn't affect your mental health. Excessive porn consumption and constant fantasizing are the real problems.

  3. masturbation itself is not going to ruin you, but pmo will, its all about your confidence and beliefs honestly, those guys who masturbation does not affect are different type of people, they have confidence and see no issue with their actions, therefore they dont mentally suffer at all and neither does their sex drive.

  4. I think of myself as one of those people when I look back. At the same time though you can definitely feel it eating away at you under the surface. And then when I decided to finally abstain for two weeks, withdrawal set in and there was no place to run to, nowhere to hide. Confidence will be gone, but only the brave dare to make the decision to quit, right?

According to some people's beliefs, masturbation can cause mental illness or issues. But researchers disproven this. Masturbation doesn't cause mental issues like depression rather it is a common and natural activity that offers many sexual health benefits.

  6. Depends on what research you are on about...

There are at least 4 different professional doctors I can quote that prove otherwise. No more excuses, okay?

Masturbation is not the problem. It becomes a problem when you lose control and becomes an addiction thus that is why most of us are here to break tbat cycle. How it becomes out of hand? Porn. I think your thinking too much of what is going on in school and you need to work on your self esteem. Either congrats if your avoiding PMO and just embrace your wet dreams. I believe thats is how we were intentionally were suppose to be as males, no M, control sexual thoughts in our heads, and have wet dreams as our bodys take care of our selves. Like you said self esteem is part of confidence its all mental you just got to work on it as you work avoiding Masturbation as your wet dreams increase just embrace them.

  8. Their life based on ignorance will be their downfall.
Most of them prbbly just don't even realize that jerking off a lot, wich some may do, is bad and think its normal because they tell their friends that do the same about it and think its just normal to do it.

  9. Basically they watch porn too and they say it's normal. And they still have an amazing life. I believe it's based on our strengths

Some people like mantak chia say the loss of semen does affect men, hes not the only one tho cause some other books say the same. I read some of his book (Multiorgasmic Man) and well, maybe thats why people who go on nofap experience positive results.
This is how I found out about this and just joined the site.

  11. I would feel bad even before I learnt about NoFap. Now I saw the whole thing

  12. If they continue with the practices, it will have consequences. In my first 2 years of frequent pmoing, I didn't really feel the effect. However, it kinda affect my performance at work and school except being social. By 3 years I kept feeling lethargic and less motivated even though I was being social at school mostly. I became very needy with the opposite sex and that became repulsive. I'd say frequent and binge watching P will have a negative impact on your well being not to mention kindling effect after each streak. It might take less time to make effect if you used to get laid before the addiction.

It largely depends on whether you think "mental health" is a matter of socially accepted norms.

A lot of younger people on NoFap seem to think it's all about getting real sex, but that perspective obviously doesn't take into account that sex addiction is a real thing - not just PMO. Not only sex addiction, but with that kind of powerful attachment and existing mental health issues your life can get really messed up with a lot of unwanted drama, (see any number of posts by SOs in Rebooting in Relationship etc) but it seems people are so blinded by the prospect of sex that they don't see this at all.

Overall, even people who do NoFap have an awefully simplistic view of the mind and relationships. When I have time (which a lot of younger guys have but doesn't seem to want to spend on really studying this in depth btw) I will want to read stuff like Stanton Peels Love and Addiction. Not sure if the members who are interested in a deeper understanding will even read this thread but from Wikipedia:

Love and Addiction pre-dated by almost a decade the notion of sex addiction and codependency popularized by authors such as Patrick Carnes, whose Out of the Shadows, one of the earliest popular books to describe sex addiction, came out in 1983, and Melody Beattie, whose Codependent No More was published in 1986.

BTW, one young member recently posted he finally had actual sex, but it wasn't "all that."

the ability to 'concentrate' is something few people think deeply about.

but it is the very essence of your psychic material organization.

when a demon 'breaks your concentration', the urge to masturbate will suddenly become overwhelming, as you 'offer yourself' as a sacrifice, you will your own death to appease the demons will.

think of this scene as your soul , aural psychic force organizing the matter of your body. when your concentration span runs out, you die.

but in reality the ability to 'concentrate' is what civilization is. every genius was just a person with remarkable ability to concentrate. human intelligence is simply the ability to 'concentrate'.

and your rulers know that. and they dont want you 'concentrating' too much because that is a serious power
