I don't fap.

Ok hear me out guys. This video on my youtube feed just popped out by this dude bro named Hamza. It was about NoFap so I was like sure why not? it's 5 minutes whatever, but I was surprised that when I finished watching it and despite the huge douche-bro he comes across as, he makes a valid point about something important in NoFap: The difference between, "I'm trying not to fap" and "I don't fap".

"I'm trying not to fap" implies that you will eventually fap. There's a level of uncertainty to it that I realized I was doing before this current streak. Trying not to do something makes your brain think that it will eventually happen, like when someone says "Try not to laugh", Instinctually, your brain will do the opposite of that.

On the other hand, "I don't fap" implies a finality to it. Like I don't drink coffee, or I don't drink alcohol. One just doesn't do it. I felt the same way about it this streak as I proclaimed "Porn is dead to me" early on in my streak. While I still do get urges (Mostly revolving around my recent ex-wife), I feel more at ease when I realize that I don't associate the sexual energy I have with fapping anymore. I turn that energy towards my playing, or exercise or any number of endeavors I want to accomplish in this life.

I implore each and every one of you to say to yourselves: "I don't fap" and "Porn is dead to me" whenever you feel that urge come up. It won't work immediately and it may take time, but the time you spend now to fix this problem is nowhere the amount of time you will waste if you continue to fap.
