As a teenager I had a group of friends. I would have been about 15. We went to under 18s clubs all over Sydney at this glorious stage of my life. I was never good with the girls. Some of us did get some girls.
But only one of my friends, stole each and every girls affection. Girls other friends picked up from these innocent clubs. It was all very innocent back then, we were all virgins.
This led to an incredible amount of jealousy and the group in years to come had divided. This unique individual had not been gentle about his conquests of his friends object of affection and boasted that none can compete with him for he had "powers".
We became, and still are, best of friends.
He never kept it a secret. He had alway's hinted to all of us "You can't defeat me, I have 3 months powers!". He had always insisted that source of his "powers" was his abstinence from masturbation.
Everyone thought he was a looney, including me.
Yet he consistently won over each and every girl the group had encountered. Pride, I believe, was why no one believed him. He could neither read nor write, he was uneducated - what does he know? Far less than us, that's for sure.
As the group imploded with the jealousy, loyalties had split. I had sided with this unique individual, for we were both from broken homes and all others had secure families - we were roommates now - I had already moved out of home. We had become very close.
It is now just he and I - odd now that I think about it. I had hated him the most when he joined the group and he tried to convince everyone that the group should not have someone like me. More than one occasion I had violently confronted him. In hindsight he was correct - I had grown to be an unpredictable, angry and violent teenager (broken home etc.)
In this time when it was just he and I - I had witnessed at first hand his charm and maturity. I was maturing and became more observant. I always thought girls just like him for whatever reason. Now I can see that he had the capability to manipulate any situation that girls will like him over any other competitors.
"Now do you believe me? Why not try for yourself, don't take my word for it - you'll see" He said to me in a moment of reflection.
My life has never been the same again.
This was before the Internet it was the early to late nineties. In the years to come, I have witnessed the porn epidemic destroy society as we both knew it.
