I know that I can do it, but I am aware that I need an AP !!!

    Hello everyone, I am 25 years old, I have been fighting against this addiction for more than 6 years I think, and I DO want to leave this fucking thing. I need to leave it behind to can go for my dreams and projects.
    So in this trip, It would be really nice to know some people to share experiences and principally get and give SUPPORT in critical times. In that moments when you know that you are near to relapse get a call, a message or whatever to remind the benefits of leave this addiction or how bad this addiction have affected your life in the past, can be clue to beat this. I hope to find someone, or a group of people, to help me change my life and I can help to change theirs.
    I am really aware that I can beat this, I have known that all my life, but also It's true that I have been fighting against this for some years and I haven't been able to beate it, so maybe it's true that I can beat this but it's also true that I can't do it by myself right now, so I need support. And I am going to do whatever in my hands to change this fool habit. So I would be really grateful to fidn that person or group of people, text me!
    I, you, we CAN do it. I'M GONNA DO IT!!!

    Nice quote. There's AP to check in with and there's also the "going further" part which we can all participate in with discussion on the forum. It's actually a pretty close relationship if you end up being open enough to people and lots of people want similar age group, religious belief or whatever but there's different levels and types of support.

    Just now, I got an urge and I take a cold shower, then the urge has gone, the cold shower really works, once I think it will take half a hour to work but a few minutes is enough.

    Glad to hear it! I haven't had any problems yet but I only started again yesterday.
    I hope everyone's days are productive. I had a bit of trouble sleeping last night and woke up late. Time to really dig into the online summer school for me.

    Well done! Day 2 I think for myself. Maybe less. When I'm bored images of the pornography flash in my head and memories of the sound haunt my ears. I think "I'd like to listen to something" and automatically I think of a moan and feel my mind calling to me for 'just a peek.' The brain is clearly a plastic thing in how it has adapted to pornography for stimulation, but in this is its salvation as well.

    I read The Power of Habit a while ago after having it recommended to me by a man whose life it had a great influence upon. The book is about the behaviorist theory of creating positive habitual responses to stimulation. An example would be a a nail biter rubbing their knuckles on something for stimulation instead. I think I run to media stimulation when I'm stressed or bored, and pornography is the greatest (and thus worst) form of this media stimulation. I've got to face up to failures I've already created running from my problems today-just another reminder of the toll masturbation can take.

    @Case Hey mannnn, I am so glad that you had post here! I read The Power Of Habits - Charles Duhigg too, and I read this with the intention to adapt this book to leave this fucking addiction. How is our habit loop and how we can alterate to change this bad habit for other different, how the book explains. If someone can do this it would be amazing, and even that person could help many people here whose really needs that motivation. What do you think if we try to apply as much as we can all the theory that is in the book to change this fap addiction. Just the fact to find another person who reads that book right here, in my AP thread it's like a signal that we are in a good way.
    As I say in the title, I know that I can, BUT I NEED HELP.
    We all can do it!!!

    That book is for habit not for additction.
    I think misunderstood habit with additction they are very different.

    That's the point. Where is the line between a bad habit and addiction?. Someone can think this is an addiction, on the other hand, someone can think this is a really bad habit. I have read here in forums many times that this is a same addcition as drugs, alcohol, etc. In my case this is kind of addiction, because I do want to stop doing this and I couldn't.
    In the same book say that the way habit works, habit loop, apply since bad habits like nail bitting, until serious addcitions like alcohol and gambling.
    In my personal opinion, it completely works. It's just to define how the habit loop works for Fap, basically it has three components; the signal, the routine and the reward. Define this for Fap and then the book say that the way to change an habit is find the way to replace the routine for another different but that provides a similar reward the the original habit. Because the signal would keep in your mind for times, it's not easy to avoid.
    That's my opinion. I read that book with the idea to apply for my bad habit, addcition, I mean this. I would keep trying to find more smilarities and the way to apply here, defining the habit loop for this addiction, and the most important thing, looking another routine that give me similar recompense.

    I would absolutely agree with the content of this book applying to NoFap journeys. I'm also at the beginning of mine (again), and currently reading the book alongside. For me anyway, my use of p is quite habitual - when I actually think about how I'm feeling, I don't always feel like masturbating, rather I do it out of habit.

    So far, seems to be an excellent book - discusses forming good habits, and breaking bad ones and you can absolutely apply a lot of the concepts in the book to NoFap, whether in your particular circumstance, using porn/masturbating is habitual.

    Would definitely recommend (I know it's a side note, but just thought I'd thrown in my tuppence worth). Also looking for a non-religious AP/AP Group. Would be keen to participate if anyone is willing to have me :)

    Ohhh it looks better each day, another person with a similar thinking right here. I agree with you @hntbab2468, the book is completely perfect for our situation to leave thins fucking thing. I am going to scan the book again these days to highlight the mot important quotes and theory to apply here.
    For me is the right way to do the things, read the experts, adpat to each case and then put in practice. I am not saying that this is a magical thing, I am just saying that they took the time to explore how our brain works with the habits and addcition, and they find really useful things through investigation and psicology; so we can take the advantage of that information and apply.
    The fact to find another person with a similar idea. It's a source of motivation to keep going and don't ever think of relapse. I CAN DO IT!
