Depends on the rules you set for yourself and why you're doing NoFap. I personally wouldn't reset the counter.

Well, if your aim is to get away from porn, then I'd say reset the counter.

I agree I wouldnt reset. Just by looking at it and not by aroused or anything for a short time u are not going back to the old habits. When u though keep doing that u will see it will arouse u and ur brain will switch off again. So be careful with that kind of testing yourself is not a good idea

I'd say reset. Cause it's not alright to look at porn doing no PMO. If you feel it's alright what you just did, when is it not ok?

i agree, but again , it depends on your motivation.
there is porn EVERYWHERE. walking down the mall and staring too long as you pass victorias secret, for example,
its WHAT WE DO WITH IT IN OUR HEAD, not its mere existence.

the GREAT NEWS, is you didn't M/O,
and the even greater news is YOU DIDNT ENJOY LOOKING as much (hopefully not at all)
you've got a nice little streak going, just two days behind me.

its a slippery slope, a quick look leads to a longer look, which leads to an edge, which leads to a . . .
    counter rest.

be proud you didn't M/O, and that it didn't tittilate you is a good sign,
but do NOT dabble with such self made challenges.
THIS IS A MONSTER which we are up against,

The brain is powerful. Always easy to justify, which is why we got ourselves here in the first place. If you are serious about it , I would reset it.

Who are you doing it for? How do you feel about it? Did you learn from it? Are you pursuing personal growth or are you just counting the days? These are questions only YOU can answer. I wouldn't reset unless YOU think it's necessary. If it bothers you, then reset. I haven't looked at any porn myself, but I have let my mind dwell on thoughts for longer than I should have. Almost relapsed, but didn't and I'm a little more skilled at handling those thought processes. I wouldn't look at porn again if you can help it, though.

Yes, it's a reset in my opinion. The aim of this forum is abstinence from porn and masturbation.

    Don't beat yourself up.

But .... if you don't reset your counter, you are not acknowledging a little slip up.

Next thing you know, you are doing more of these little 5 minutes peeks. With enough of these 5 minute peeks, you will eventually relapse.

I have a few counters now.
    1 for porn
    1 for M
    1 for O
1 for Googling any sexy image (actress name, etc.) I call this my soft porn counter.
1 for "extended fantasy" (my rule is fantasizing my way to erection)

What I have notices over and over and over is:
If I fanticize for a few days, it will lead to sexy image searches
If I Google sexy images for a few days, it will lead to porn images
    Then edging
    then porn
    then O

Fantasizing is the first step to PMO

It depends on what your goals are. If your trying to reboot your brain because you have sexual issues then definitely reset. By looking you've fired up those nueropathways that are wired for porn and hindered your recovery. The whole goal is to kill those pathways by abstaining so that one day you can make new pathways.

It can be tough to do once you start to get a streak going, but in the end just remember this is all about your recovery not days on a counter. Follow your heart, if you think for any reason that you've slowed your recovery then reset. Being true to yourself will also help with the way you feel about everything.

    Good luck and safe travels.

Don't look to other people for something as artificial as a counter. The counter is a tool not a Bible.

    appreciate the posts everyone.

ive decided to not reset because I feel like that brief incident didnt really set me back much at all. Reason why I say this is because I am still experiencing the benefits of nofap:

-I actually WANT to socialize with people, for some reason I crave socializing.
-My speech is very articulated, meaning like I can talk with confidence, no studdering or trailing off
    -My voice has gotten deeper
-I actually WANT to be productive

and these havent gone away since those 5-7 min of "relapse" so I decided to keep the counter going.

Libido wise, it seems to be gone but yesterday I was eyeing this chick's bum and got a rock hard one. but i still cant get it up with imagine purely, so i guess im sort of in a flatline.

Also a tip for nofappers: I would avoid websites such as Yahoo or youtube, because they may sometimes have pics of women almost undressed for their "articles"

Well, as you can read in my introduction I'm struggling with porn addiction for several years now. I've always tried to talk to my wife and a good friend whenever I had the feeling I've had a relapse. As I've been clean of hardcore porn for 5 years now I would say you should reset the counter and instead try to avoid porn longer the next time. Otherwise you will see porn clips again maybe in a week and still count it as no relapse. At the end you'll maybe reach your goal in terms of days avoiding "porn" (whatever your definition is) in your counter, but won't change your mind towards what porn really is.

So my advice, reset and start over again, it really is no problem to struggle if your standing up again! I've had to reset several times and still I am struggling.
Try to keep away from porn now for a longer time, let it be 3 weeks (as it was about 2 weeks now). Then 1 month, 2 month etc. Try to set special days to reach without watching any porn, but stay away from porn as a reward when this date is reached. It really is a hard way to go, but it's worth it and it's only possible if your not self-deluding.
Have a look here, even if your not religous, during my search through the internet I've found this site has good tips: http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/teenagers/ask/why-reject-pornography/

BTW, you are absolutely right to avoid Youtube and sites like this if you really want to keep away from porn. There are many triggers on these sites.

    ss91.

Don't test your libido with your imagination. That is mental porn, and will slow down your progress.

It may also lead to relapse. I have noticed many times that if I start enjoying the odd fantasy, it increases the odds of Googling for sexy images, which can then escalate to PMO

Depends on what you're really trying to give up. It could be a step maybe that you looked at it for a small amount of time and just went about your streak stronger. But the times I've done that before, I always end up back looking at more after a day or so, then more, then more - even while telling myself I actually hate P (because I actually sort of do more and more and because you're never satisfied EVER - there is always something else to look at, it's an absolute sickness even without edging or m'ing). Then I relapse. It may be a couple of days after initially looking at some or a week. But I feel it's sort of like an alcoholic opening a beer and smelling it and maybe even taking a small sip then spitting it back out. Maybe it's a part of the process. But they're just torturing themselves and will relapse. This is a mind game. You have to yell a loud NO to it in your head.

But I don't think you necessarily need to reset if you did nothing at the moment. Yet, I think it could spell trouble ahead. Best of luck to you.
