    Hello all,

I just joined and need help. I started viewing porn as an early age and it got to the point that I lost interest in my wife and I would spend hours a day scrolling porn sites. Although I attended Mass on a regular basis, I was there in body only. I rarely went to confession until earlier this year. That is when I had enough. I started going ..... really going to Mass daily on most weeks and for sure, on every Sunday. My wife and I started saying (and still do) the Rosary every night and I go to confession regularly. I had a good 6 month streak going until a month or so ago when I ran across some of my old downloaded pics and had a relapse. Since then, I've been unable to go a week without scrolling porn sites or erotic sites on ROKU. I finally found a porn blocker that works, but that didn't stop me from the ROKU sites. During this time, I still went to confession, resolved not to view porn again, prayed for help....and within a week found myself doing the same things again. I feel myself spiraling down into my old habits. I don't even feel worthy to go to Mass or confession again.

Don't fall into despair brother, that is what the enemy wants you to do. You are a child of God and he loves you more than you could ever love yourself. Expect to fall and trust in the mercy of our Lord. Try not to think that it has been X number of days or months and now I have fallen again, how can I be worthy of our Lord.... but rather what a battle I have fought! X number of minutes/days/years but alas I have fallen to this sin, time to fight again! Remember that we can do nothing without the grace of God, that includes staying free of sin. Temptation is meant to strengthen us for future battle and to fulfill God's Will in our lives. Falling and repentance is okay and expected as we are sinners.....remember, "how many times must I forgive?"....
    Matthew 18:22
"Jesus saith to him: I say not to thee, till seven times; but till seventy times seven times."
    ...aka forever...
God Bless, I will pray for you...have courage :)

Great job on those 6 months! Unfortunately, the battle never ends; and we have to be vigilant and be ready to adapt to any circumstance. Which leads to my primary advice (in case you haven't figured it out already)...

Get rid of the Roku if you can.
If not, look into blocking sites through your router... I don't know the technicalities of it, but I know it's possible (look here for more info: https://cleanbrowsing.org/).
I assume you have not told your wife yet? Do you have any kids? Because "to protect your kids" could be a good (and true) excuse for getting rid of the Roku or setting up internet filters.

Again, it sounds like you did a good job in those 6 months. Unfortunately, the flesh and the devil are both going to look for ways to overcome our defenses... and they found it in your Roku. So figure out a way to get rid of it or neutralize it, or else you will not have much hope of recovery.

    God bless! Keep fighting!

I use this as well and it is a great product. In addition to the free filters, you can pay per month to get access to user profiles that allow you to send traffic from specific devices. So kids get one and you get another, etc. It helps in homeschooling environments like ours.

I tried a new router and it didn't work the way I wanted it to, so it's going back. I set up an account with cleanbrowsing.org and I'm going to get rid of the ROKU and use a PC for streaming tv, movies etc. and use the blocker that I have on my pc for that. I know that blocker works. I've also noticed that if I miss my morning prayers, I'm more likely to be tempted. I will keep praying for everyone here. Please keep praying for me as well.

Brother I don't think any of us are ever worthy of coming to the Lord in the sacraments or otherwise. I believe we all fall short in some manner of what God calls us to be whether we're addicted or not. He loves us anyway and eagerly desire we come to Him in whatever state we're in.
I would suggest you strive to serve other's needs generously as a countermeasure and find a priest, minister, or layperson who has a successful deliverance ministry to pray over you.
I impart to you the gift of peace and joy the Lord has granted me and will continue to pray for you.
    God bless
