I never believed in the theory that porn directly causes ED

There are several studies that have found no correlation, what may happen is that young men may feel porn is bad. Then, they're led to believe porn causes ED, a self-fulfilling prophecy. Some report that after quitting porn, their erections got better, but is probably not because of porn. It's more likely that as they took on NoFap, they also improved other areas of their life, which in turn lowered anxiety, improved depression, self-esteem, confidence, etc.

Staying away from what they believe is evil and harming them, consequently, makes them feel better emotionally. Most young men who have issues, actually have performance anxiety/mental health issues. (something they'll refuse to accept) is much easier to believe the cause of your problem is some outside force, rather than inside you.

What may happen is the more porn you watch, the worse you may feel about sex, your own sexual prowess, comparing yourself to men with big penises who last forever, watching women you may never get in real life, etc.

So it may cause ED, not by desensitization, but rather by worsening your mental health, lowering self-esteem, causing depression, anxiety about your self-image, penis, sexual performance, etc. This is why some see improvements after quitting porn. It's not that porn itself caused ED, but rather the effect it can have on your mental health which then causes ED. Its your mental health that caused it, not porn.

Why is ED among young men more common than in decades? Yes, is because of porn, but also social media and high expectations for men. It's not that porn causes ED directly, but rather just like social media, it can worse self-esteem, depression, self image, more importantly, it can make you feel inadequate about your sexuality, you feel you're not as big as those porn actors, don't last as long, don't please as well, don't cum as much, not as muscular or ripped, that you can't get women like those, etc.

This is the reason why ED is more common now, is not because of porn but rather the internet as a whole making men feel inadequate for not being good-looking enough, jacked enough, sexually powerful enough, not having enough money, game, status, women, etc

Everywhere you turn, you see men excelling at everything on social media, you turn to porn and you see men who have bigger dicks, bigger loads, last longer, fuck women you would only get in your dreams, etc

I have a big penis and am good in bed. I had 100% pied from porn. Had never heard of the connection until after it happened. When I'd relapse my erections would be weaker, when I'd reconnect with women they would get stronger. So I'm afraid I don't believe what you're saying.

Everyone here I think can see the effects of escalation, remember what you first started watching and what you end up with. It has an effect on the brain. Do not delude yourself bro.

I think you are right. This makes a lot of sense. Haven't read the article though. I never had ED though. I might be biased.

  7. I think a lot of it is mental honestly, but I do think excessive Pmo can harm you in certain ways.

The reason porn is still not considered as hamrful as it should be, is because of ignorant people like you, who have no clue what they're talking about, yet hypothesizing so confidently.

This guy is always coming here to defend porn or to deny the effects on the user. At this point you really have to question what his motive is as even if you are someone that doesn't believe in porn addiction/PIED etc, why would you continue to try and convince people who clearly have a different opinion/experience?

If he's not in some way part of the porn industry itself then I suspect he's an addict who can't/won't quit. He may even have ED but doesn't want to believe it's from his porn use so comes here to try and convince us, as well as himself, that it's not real.

I dunno if it’s worth even rebutting this.

The only study linked in the article is extremely low-effort. The researchers just showed a video to college students and asked them how aroused they were.

Science can just bring to light things that weren’t known before, it can’t erase a reality experienced by millions of people.
