Does this mean that I'm addicted? When I'm stressed most of the time I REALLY need to do it, but does this mean I'm not addicted or am I?

I think a fair definition of addiction includes anything that involves (a) you feeling compelled to do something you wouldn't otherwise want to do; and (b) this involuntary activity causing problems in the rest of your life.

Sounds like you've got (a) covered, but how about (b)?

Addicts use porn to alter, medicate, numb, sooth, or escape from negative emotions. The more you PMO to deal with stress the more your brain learns to depend upon it. It doesn't learn any other way to deal with stress. When you orgasm the body releases opioid like chemicals that calms the body down, which is perfect for dealing with stress and anxiety. But it is not true comfort. It is a fleeting feeling, and often the negative feelings come back even worse. The sooner you decide to change, the easier it is to cut it out of your life.

Start learning about meditation and mindful living. Also check out the book "Don't sweat the small stuff" by Richard Carlson.
Seems if you just focus on dealing with stress, you'll become PMO free as a result.

I think I will use this quote because I couldn't have said it better.

  6. All these posts bring up good points on what you asked, Chris. If you want to stop and can't stop, then that sounds like a problem. And if so, dealing with it sooner rather than later is always better.
